An esteemed educator with more than 45 years of experience in her field, Ms. Paschal initially pursued an education of her own at Angelo State University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in biology in 1980. Following this accomplishment, she accepted a position as a teacher’s aide before excelling as a mathematics teacher at the Lake View High School since 1980. Part of the San Angelo Independent School District, she has taught honors courses in algebra and precalculus over the course of her professional tenure. In addition to these responsibilities, Ms. Paschal has been also active at Lake View High School as a coach for the mathematics team, a coordinator for the University Interscholastic League, and a member of the curriculum writing team.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Paschal has demonstrated exceptional dedication to her community, including her local church and charitable organizations. She has likewise contributed as an advisor for several published books and a book reviewer for “Algebra Two” with Holt Publishers. Moreover, Ms. Paschal remains affiliated with the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
As a testament to her thriving career, Ms. Paschal was selected for inclusion in the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)’s Top 50 Fearless Leaders in 2019, which highlighted stories of resilience, strength, perseverance, passion, and dedication. The recipient of the 35 Year and 40 Year Pins from the San Angelo Independent School District, IAOTP further celebrated her with Teacher of the Year Awards in 2000, 2014 and 2019, induction in the Hall of Fame in 2019, recognition as the Top Inspirational Teacher of the Year in 2022, and the Top Global Hero Award in Education in 2023. Further featured in the Top 12 Educators of the Year Calendar, Ms. Paschal has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal, Millennium Magazine, and Who’s Who in America.
Proud to see her students understand her lessons in real time, Ms. Paschal attributes her success to her ability to teach students as well as the support that she has received from her colleagues and mentors. Among the highlights of her career, she is excited to witness her former students teaching alongside her at Lake View High School. In the coming, Ms. Paschal intends to continue thriving as a teacher at the school, as she greatly enjoys sharing her knowledge with students and mentoring other teachers.
