Rev. Dr. Andrea L. Walker

Title: Pastor
Company: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
Location: Washington D.C, United States

Rev. Dr. Andrea L. Walker, pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious and community leadership.

With nearly 30 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Walker has excelled as pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church since 2020. She began her career as an electrologist at a beauty salon. She established herself as a pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 2000 to 2003 and at another Lutheran church in Summit, New Jersey from 2003 to 2012. She served as area director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Global Mission in West Africa from 2012 to 2020.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Walker pursued an education at Georgia State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1995. She continued her education at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1999 and a Doctor of Ministry in preaching in 2007. She is a certified IDI qualified administrator.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Walker has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She found success with her written works featured in Millennium Magazine and her contribution to “Call to Allyship: Preparing Your Congregation for Leaders of Color.” In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as a distinguished alumni by Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

Dr. Walker attributes her success to her desire and drive to make the world a better place. During her divorce, her five-year-old son spent time with his grandmother. When he returned, he expressed a desire to attend church. They visited a Lutheran congregation, and it was through this community that she became inspired to pursue preaching.

Dr. Walker’s most notable achievement is her ability to foster community around the concept of listening. She has had a successful career as an African-American woman in the Lutheran church, which is a primarily white denomination. She is also proud of finally writing a book chapter, something she has always aspired to do. In the immediate future, she intends to bring the congregation closer to the community and continue writing books.
