She began her career as a registered nurse in 1981.
Before embarking on her professional path, Mrs. Pollard pursued an education at the University of Lynchburg, formerly Lynchburg College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating magna cum laude. She continued her academic efforts at Pfeiffer University, obtaining a Master of Science in organizational change. She is a registered nurse through the Virginia Baptist School of Nursing.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Mrs. Pollard has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She volunteered with Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center and her local church. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Nursing Informatics Association, and the American One Association.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Mrs. Pollard has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with the Beacon Award, the ANA Award, and the Top Honors Award from the University of Lynchburg. She attributes her accomplishments to the invaluable guidance of her mentors, her tendency to consider the bigger picture, her ability to approach situations in a strategic manner, and her unwavering commitment to hard work.
In the immediate future, Mrs. Pollard is deeply committed to seeing the Veterans Affairs project through to its completion. Upon implementation, this system will encompass an extraordinary 23 million individuals. From her perspective, this marks the most significant health transformation to ever take place. She is convinced that the clinical informatics work her team is doing will constitute a lasting legacy within the healthcare industry. She is also hopeful that she will have the opportunity to consult on a national level, thereby continuing to make a meaningful difference in the field of healthcare.
