Chief Dennis Fields Jr., Retired Fire Chief at Oneida Fire Department, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fire prevention.
With years of experience to his credit, Chief Fields has excelled as the owner and president of FD Firearms since 2010. During this time, he was additionally active in the Oneida Fire Department as an assistant fire chief from 1996 to 2018, an assistant fire marhal from 1999 to 2018, and the fire chief from 2018 to 2023. Likewise, he was recruited as a codes enforcement officer for the Town of Lincoln, New York from 2007 to 2018 and a rescue technician for Safety Compliance Services from 2010 to 2016. Chief Fields began his career at the Griffith Air Force Base in Rome, New York, where he completed two years of service before embarking on his professional path.
To support his professional ambitions, Chief Fields obtained his AEMT-Critical Care certification from the New York State Department of Health in 1993. He subsequently earned his federal firearms license from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in 2017. In addition to these accomplishments, Chief Fields has contributed to his industry through his appointments as vice president of the New York State Career Fire Chiefs and the president of the Madison County Fire Chiefs Association.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Chief Fields has accrued several accolades throughout his career. In 2007, he was notably presented with a Medal of Valor from the Oneida Fire Department for rescuing a fellow firefighter, which he proudly cites as the highlight of his career. Furthermore, Chief Fields was recognized as the Firefighter of the Year in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
Distinguished among his peers for his exceptional sense of empathy, Chief Fields has attribued his success to his outstanding dedication to his community and fellow firefighters. Moreover, he has found success through his affiliations with the National Fire Protection Association, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Oneida’s Club, Rotary Internation, and The United Way of Greater Oneida, the latter of which elected him to their board of directors. In the coming years, Chief Fields hopes to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, having achieved his goal of becoming a fire chief.
