Her earlier experiences at Omnicom agencies like Interbrand and BBDO, from 2002 to 2007, equipped her with extensive skills in global advertising, marketing, and digital transformation.

Ms. Katz’s diverse background also encompasses urban development strategies for New York City under the leadership of Mayors David N. Dinkins, Edward I. Koch, and Robert R. Kiley at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority from 1986 to 1992. This role underscored her capacity to innovate and strategize at the intersection of urban planning and public policy.

Raised and educated under apartheid, Ms. Katz’s journey from South Africa to the top of her class at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation in 1984 instilled in her a resilient and optimistic outlook, deeply influenced by her early challenges. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in government, economics, and politics from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, earned in 1982, and a Master of Science in urban planning from Columbia University.

Throughout her career, Ms. Katz has remained connected to her roots as a trustee of the National Children’s Theatre of South Africa. She takes particular pride in her role in securing a major partnership with Disney, which introduced “The Lion King Jr.” to audiences across South Africa, significantly boosting the theatre’s international profile.
