He takes a lead role in handling customer orders, oversees staff, manages to-go and catering orders, and actively fosters lasting and positive relationships within the community.
Prior to this position, Mr. Braswell worked his way up from a server to head staff trainer at Ruth’s Chris Steak House from 2011 to 2015. Previously, he served as a general manager in food and beverage from 2007 to 2010 and worked as a sales and mortgage broker from 2005 to 2010. He began his career as a licensed private nurse from 1994 to 1997 and waiter in fine dining restaurants.
Mr. Braswell also worked as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps from 1993 to 1997, gaining valuable skills and experiences that have contributed to his professional development. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued academic efforts at the University of Phoenix, earning an associate degree in business management in 2006.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Braswell has participated in civic engagements, volunteering at Louisiana Key Academy since 2021, participating in career fairs, organizing cooking shows, and conducting classes for children interested in the restaurant industry. He has contributed to his community by donating gift cards for silent auctions and providing food for functions at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He also supports Mid City Church by donating breakfast meals for special events and occasions.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Braswell has accrued several accolades throughout his career. Simple Joe consistently ranks in the top three restaurants in Baton Rouge’s Best of 225 Awards since its establishment. He was featured in a front-page article of a local newspaper as “their go-to guy when they weren’t cooking” and was selected from a pool of six interviewed restaurant owners in his community.
Mr. Braswell attributes his success to his hands-on approach, actively engaging with both his team and the community and immersing himself in the daily operations to ensure a unique and positive dining experience. He expresses gratitude to the dedicated Simple Joe team, whose love and hard work have been instrumental in the business’s success.
Looking ahead, Mr. Braswell plans to expand his reach by launching an online store, SimpleJoeonline.com, set to commence sales next year. He is in discussions with Louisiana State University to incubate his products, ensuring their shelf stability for broader distribution beyond the restaurant. Confident in the effectiveness of his system, he envisions the possibility of taking it to diverse locations and is open to consulting and teaching others how to enhance their systems for optimal performance.
