Yusuf Gurkaynak, chief technology officer at ENFusion, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in solar energy and research and development.
Dr. Gurkaynak is an expert in solar energy and electronics research and development. He currently serves as the chief technical officer at ENFusion Energy, formerly SunTech Drive, where he oversees project management, designs motor drives and smart technology for solar energy generation, monitors staff progress, and provides feedback. He also codes and tests microcontrollers and manages control algorithms. His previous roles include chief engineer at ENFusion Energy from 2020 to 2022, co-founder and chief engineer at SunTech Drive from 2013 to 2020, senior electrical engineer at Bright Energy Storage Technologies from 2013 to 2016, and senior control engineer at both MagDrive LLC from 2010 to 2013 and Southwest Windpower, acquired by XZERES Corp., from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, he has experience as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Boulder and as a research assistant at Illinois Tech and Istanbul Technical University.
Dr. Gurkaynak has also achieved success with his creative works, including publications such as “Stability Analysis of FPGA-Based Control of Brushless DC Motors and Generators Using Digital PWM Technique” for the Institute of Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Transactions on Industrial Electronics and “Neural Adaptive Control Strategy for Hybrid Electric Vehicles with Parallel Powertrain” for the IEEE Conference on Vehicle Power and Propulsion. His works cover power management algorithms, photovoltaic-battery-powered vehicles, and grid-tied solar-powered homes, presented at various IEEE conferences and the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress and Exhibition. Prior to embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at Istanbul Technical University, earning a Bachelor of science in electrical engineering in 2004, a Bachelor of Science in electronics and communication engineering in 2005, and a Master of Science in control and automation engineering in 2006, followed by a PhD in electrical engineering with high honors from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2011. He also holds IBM certifications in deep learning, applied data science, machine learning, and Python for data science.
Dr. Gurkaynak holds several patents, including those for solar energy solutions and power blending controllers, and notably helped ENfusion Energy achieve a technology value of $45 million before the pandemic. He is also active in civic engagement, having volunteered for various refugee initiatives, donated to children’s charities in Zimbabwe for 10 years, and participated in annual mission trips to Syria and the Gaza Strip. He attributes his success to his passion for renewable energy, commitment to sustainability, and continuous learning and innovation. In the coming years, he aims to become a full-time professor, potentially returning to his alma mater in Turkey while continuing research and consulting for ENfusion Energy.
