Chris Alexander Korfiatis, vice president of marine technical operations at Royal Caribbean Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in marine engineering.
Mr. Korfiatis has established himself as a leader in naval architecture and marine engineering. He currently serves as the vice president of marine technical operations at Royal Caribbean Group (RCI), a role he has held since 2021. In this capacity, he oversees technical operations in the marine department and manages the daily operational aspects of the RCI cruise ships. He ensures the ships operate in compliance with all company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, he oversees all fleet technical needs, systems, maintenance, and support while driving the company toward adopting new technologies and improving efficiency. Before his current role, he served as a marine technical operations executive at Resorts World Genting from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, he was the technical director at Attica Group S.A. in Athens, Greece, from 2008 to 2013, and the fleet technical manager at Majestic International Cruises, Greece, from 2003 to 2008. He also held roles in project management at Attica Group S.A. from 2002 to 2003, new projects supervision at Attica Group S.A. in Germany from 1999 to 2002, and new projects supervision at Maran Tankers Management Inc. in South Korea from 1998 to 1999.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Korfiatis earned a Master of Engineering in naval architecture and marine engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1997 and later completed a Master of Business Administration from Alba Graduate Business School in 2004. He is a licensed professional engineer and a member of the European Council of Engineers Chambers. He is a certified United States Coast Guard-Foreign Passenger Vessel Examiner, IGF certified by SimWave BV, a certified international safety management lead auditor, and an accredited company security officer. Additionally, he has been a member of the board of directors for the Archimedean Conservatory of Greek Mathematics and Philosophy since 2014, and a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Throughout Mr. Korfiatis’ career, his most notable achievement has been developing and deploying Superfast Ferries, a series of high-speed luxury ferries. He attributes his success to the support of his family, his drive to tackle extraordinary challenges, and the guidance of strong mentors who exposed him to various sectors of the industry. In the coming years, he aims to continue running the business in a holistic way and aspires to become a chief operating officer.
