Lori Thomas, director of workplace culture and wellbeing at The Wellbeing Partners, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in workplace culture and well-being.

With over two decades of experience, Ms. Thomas has excelled in workplace culture and well-being consulting services. She currently serves as the director of workplace culture and well-being, as well as a workplace well-being specialist at The Wellbeing Partners, a role she has held since 2022. Her responsibilities include collaborating with local organizations and acting as an extension of their human resources and wellness teams to enhance workplace culture and employee well-being strategies. Additionally, she conducts consulting calls to identify barriers to growth, focuses on mental health in the workplace, and provides materials, presentations, and webinars on various topics. She also offers mental health first aid certification courses. She has also worked as an independent stylist at Color Street since 2018 and as an independent consultant at Usborne Books and More and Usborne Haven since 2017.

Additionally, Ms. Thomas served as a member education manager at the Wellness Council of America from 2019 to 2022, a strategic account executive at Interactive Health in 2019, and an account executive at Flywheel from 2018 to 2019. She was also a regional wellbeing and engagement consultant at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. from 2016 to 2018, and an employee wellness coordinator at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska from 2007 to 2016. She also served on the Papillion Community Foundation Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020, the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition Board from 2016 to 2017, and the YP Connect Board as Omaha YP Liaison from 2015 to 2016. Earlier in her career, she was the fitness director at Sarpy YMCA and the YMCA of Greater Omaha in 2007, a fitness and wellness graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 2006 to 2007, and a health promotion coordinator at MediFit Corporate Services from 2004 to 2006. 

Ms. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from Winona State University in 2001, and certifications as a Certified Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor in 2022, and a Certified Health Coach in 2016. Her memberships include serving on the Papillion Community Foundation Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020, being an elite member of the National Association of Professional Women from 2017 to 2018, a board member of the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition from 2016 to 2017, and the Wellness Committee Chair at Patriot Elementary PTO from 2014 to 2016. She was also an executive committee member-at-large for the Papillion Community Foundation from 2017 to 2020, Trek Up The Tower Community Volunteer Coordinator for the Wellness Council of the Midlands from 2006 to 2014, and executive committee secretary for the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition in 2016.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Thomas was named among the Top 25 and Top 50 Health Promotion Professionals by the Wellness Council of America in 2017 and was also included in their Top 100 Health Promotion Professionals list in 2015. Additionally, she earned faculty status from WELCOA in 2013 and completed several Well Workplace University programs, including “Culture Clash, How We Win the Battle for Better Health” and “How to Effectively Utilize Health Coaching To Improve Employee Health.” 

Reflecting on why she became involved in the industry, Ms. Thomas experienced firsthand the effects of poor workplace culture and how quickly it can develop. This motivated her to work in an industry that can help prevent poor work cultures from developing and aiding in employees’ mental health. A highlight of her career has been working with various teams to address workplace culture and mental health, helping multiple employers throughout her career, and seeing their success as a result of her services.

Ms. Thomas attributes her success to her passion and drive for her work. In the coming years, she is dedicated to continuing her contributions to the industry and seeing her nonprofit thrive. When advising those who wish to enter the industry, she says, “Everyone’s professional journey is different and must be guided by your own passions and intuition. Nobody can tell you what your journey should look like; you have to figure that out for yourself.”
