Title: Director of Capabilities Building

Amanda Centilli Boyd, director of capabilities building at Clarios, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in training development.
With over three and a half decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Boyd has established a successful career in training development. She currently serves as the director of capabilities building at Clarios, a role she has held since 2024. Clarios specializes in advanced battery technology for various applications, including automotive, industrial, and energy storage solutions, focusing on developing and manufacturing high-performance, sustainable batteries to meet the evolving needs of modern transportation and energy sectors. In this position, she is responsible for developing and implementing training and development programs, expanding boot camps to Latin America and India, and planning supervisory training and labor relations initiatives. She also provides input on automation and AI initiatives, focusing on maintenance, operations, training, and innovation to prepare the manufacturing plant for advanced technologies, and is focused on reducing turnover in manufacturing by investing in employees, promoting from within, and cultivating leadership skills.
Ms. Boyd’s experience includes roles as director of global strategy implementation at Clarios from 2022 to 2024, network strategy and development from 2021 to 2022, and launch and network initiatives from 2020 to 2021. She served as director of global poly manufacturing engineering at both Clarios and Johnson Controls in 2019, director of launch management at Johnson Controls from 2017 to 2019, regional launch manager of advanced power solutions from 2009 to 2017, manager at Johnson Controls from 1997 to 2009, and engineer at Owens Corning from 1989 to 1997.
Ms. Boyd’s memberships include the ManufacturingNEXT Committee at Inforum, Women in Global Battery Industry, and serving as a board member and treasurer for Paws With a Cause. She has also contributed as the equestrian team head coach at Wayland Union Middle & High School from 2008 to 2021 for the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association, and as the men’s diving coach for Wayland Union High School’s Swim & Dive Team from 2019 to 2021. Laying a solid educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1991, a Master of Business Administration from Cornerstone University in 2015, and completed executive training at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business in 2021. She takes great pride in launching the lithium-ion plant in Holland, Michigan, and in her tour with President Obama in 2011.
Reflecting on changes in the industry, she emphasizes that automation, traditionally viewed as a job eliminator, now serves as a bridge to maintain operations in a high-turnover environment where positions are difficult to fill and that automation and AI are tools to support business functions rather than replace human workers. In the coming years, she is dedicated to helping others understand what it takes to advance to the next level and providing them with the tools for success. Reflecting on her career, she feels fulfilled, recognizing that her experiences have prepared her well for her current role. While she is considering retirement in the long term, she remains focused on her present responsibilities and finds the ongoing changes in her professional journey to be an exciting aspect of her work.
