For the last 15 years, Mr. Vallespin has built a reputation as an esteemed figure in the field of human resources with a focus on the finance industry. Since 2014 he has held the role of vice president and human resources (HR) manager at Texas Partners Bank. In this dual position, Mr. Vallespin works alongside senior leaders on implementing their strategic vision for the company while handling day-to-day HR issues. He manages a team of HR Business Partners and HR Generalists and acts as the lead point of contact for payroll, benefits, performance evaluation, leadership training and more. Mr. Vallespin prides himself on the strong corporate culture and positive workplace atmosphere that he has helped develop at Texas Bank Partners. He believes the key to his success has been encouraging the transformation of managers into leaders.
Before joining Texas Partners Bank, Mr. Vallespin contributed as a human resources analyst and as the talent acquisition team lead at Becton, Dickinson and Company. During his tenure there, he joined a group of eleven employees in creating the organization’s North American shared service center in San Antonio, Texas. After playing a crucial part in this essential project, Mr. Vallespin went on to help launch additional service centers in Singapore, Colombia and Poland, shaping the company’s approach to human resources in locations around the world. His early career also included work as a government contractor for Skyline ULTD and Texas Health and Human Services.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Vallespin served as an operations sergeant in the United States Army for nearly 10 years. Originally joining the military in 2001, he provided his services in information technology in South Korea. During his time in the U.S. Army, Mr. Vallespin learned many of the fundamental elements he would put to use in his human resources career. He managed more than 10 personnel in Latin America, inspected facilities to determine compliance, negotiated budgets and organized training activities, developing many transferable skills. Mr. Vallespin’s time in the military was honored with a number of accolades, including multiple Army Commendation Medals, a few Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal and several Campaign Medals.
In addition to his military service, Mr. Vallespin sought a strong academic foundation for his future, beginning with an Associate of Arts in business administration and manager from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2006. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in professional development from the same institution in 2009. Subsequently, Mr. Vallespin earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and financial management services from Colorado Technical University in 2011. He has continued to learn through membership in such industry-related organizations as the Texas Bankers Association, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Northwest Vista College Business Council.
Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Vallespin offered his guidance as the treasurer for the Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce for several years. He is currently the president of the board of directors and chief financial officer of Eagle’s Flight Advocacy and Outreach, a nonprofit that provides assistance to the parents of children with special needs, provides services to poverty stricken areas in San Antonio, Texas and surrounding areas, is the advocate for the Baby Moses Law in San Antonio, Texas, provides burials for children killed by domestic violence, helps women who have been human trafficked and care services for senior citizens. Mr. Vallespin has also taken on the role of the vice chairman of the Alamo Community Colleges Business Council since 2021.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Vallespin is a dedicated husband and father to two children. In his free time, he teaches boxing classes and enjoys attending sports events. Looking to the future, Mr. Vallespin hopes to work his way up to an executive position. Additionally, he intends to focus more on giving back to his community and is looking for opportunities to build up businesses overseas.
