Across a career of nearly 35 years, Mr. May has built a reputation for mastery over the often intimidating world of health benefits. Beginning with over five years as an underwriting trainer at Cigna Insurance Services, he learned foundational skills that have guided his professional life since. In 1996, Mr. May joined The Segal Company as a vice president, regional public sector lead and health benefits consultant. He stayed with The Segal Company for more than 10 years, becoming deeply familiar with the public health sector in the states of Vermont and New Hampshire during that time. Mr. May contributed for another tenure of more than a decade as a senior health benefits consultant at Milliman. In 2019, he took on the role of principal and health benefits consultant at Acrisure LLC, where he has generated nearly $2 million in revenue while leading a small team and continuing to work directly with the state of Vermont as a client.
Mr. May’s achievements have been born of his academic journey and commitment to continued growth. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in finance from Bryant University in 1990. As his career has progressed, Mr. May has become affiliated with various professional groups in his field to keep updated on the latest practices. He maintains membership in the Connecticut Public Employee Labor Relations Association, the Government Finance Officers Association, the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education, and the Connecticut Association of School Business Officials. Mr. May credits his success to his ability to stay open and honest, taking responsibility when he makes mistakes and always working to improve. He also points to the importance of being able to educate his clients in clear, concise language.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. May is a devoted husband and father to two sons. When not working, he enjoys cycling, playing soccer and reading. Looking to the future, Mr. May intends to grow Acrisure LLC’s client base while carrying forward the company’s dedication to quality. He hopes to expand his public coverage to include work with the state of Connecticut and other parts of New England, and he may hire consulting teams to help address specific needs as he takes on new clients.
