With over two and a half decades of experience, Ms. Blankenship has built a successful career in tax consulting, specializing in transfer pricing. She currently excels as principal at Deloitte Tax LLP, a role she has held since 2006. Her primary focus is assisting clients with the integration of Pillar Two into their tax strategies and helping businesses restructure and align their operations with their tax objectives. As a principal, she is responsible for client service and acquisition and ensuring the practice is staffed with the right talent and training. She also dedicates her time to communicating with clients and guiding her teams on the latest tax strategies. Her earlier experience includes roles as manager of transfer pricing at KPMG from 2004 to 2006, and as senior associate in transfer pricing at KPMG from 1998 to 2003. Additionally, she is a member of the advisory board for the University of Colorado Leeds Business School, and she actively supports local animal initiatives, particularly through fostering dogs, having fostered five herself.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Blankenship laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Colorado Denver in 1998, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the same institution in 2004. Her decision to pursue a career in transfer pricing was inspired by a presentation given by a KPMG representative, who was also obtaining a PhD in economics at the University of Colorado. Impressed by the topic and the company’s approach, she applied for a position at KPMG, where she found a deep passion for the work.
Throughout her career, Ms. Blankenship has achieved numerous accomplishments, including serving as the talent leader for Deloitte’s transfer pricing practice for five years. During this time, she made significant improvements in how the firm engages with its employees, taking pride in the mentorship program she established for women and underrepresented minorities. She also implemented a senior manager mentorship program, which has been instrumental in preparing individuals for leadership roles as partners and managing directors, positively impacting the careers of many.
Ms. Blankenship attributes her success to her passion for continuously expanding her knowledge and expertise in transfer pricing by exploring different areas of interest. She has worked extensively with renewable energy credits and later shifted her focus to technology and consumer products companies, finding that pursuing her passions has been integral to her achievements.
In the coming years, Ms. Blankenship’s main objective is to expand the practice, bringing more partners on board, with one person set for partnership this year and several others in development for future leadership roles. She is also focused on helping companies adapt to the complexities of the OECD’s new tax guidance and advocating for more balanced tax regulations. Beyond her corporate goals, she is committed to raising awareness about the field of taxation and supporting professionals who need guidance, as well as exploring nonprofit opportunities. She is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders by providing transformative opportunities for individuals to advance to leadership positions, such as partner or managing director.
