Charles G. Schott III, JD, vice chair of the board of directors at the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the nonprofit sector.

Mr. Schott is lauded for his extensive experience as an executive in the nonprofit sector. Since 2019, he has been affiliated with the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation in Saint Louis, Missouri, as a board of directors member. Supporting its mission to promote, enable, and recognize the power of imagination to benefit humanity, Mr. Schott has been an instrumental addition to the organization.

In addition to his role at the foundation, Mr. Schott has been a senior advisor for the Center for Financial Stability, an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy think tank based in New York City that focuses on financial markets, since 2013. He concentrates on management, public policy, and institutional outreach related to the banking, financial services, and international investment sectors. Leveraging his extensive expertise, which encompasses the intersection of regulations and venture capital, Mr. Schott has become widely recognized.

Having begun his career in the late 1970s, Mr. Schott represented Dewey Ballantine LLP as an attorney. Subsequently, he joined the Federal Communications Commission in 1984 as the chief of the policy and rules division and the U.S. Department of Commerce as a deputy assistant secretary before returning to the FCC as the chief of staff from 1989 to 1991. Mr. Schott then consulted with McKinsey & Company in London and served as a founding executive and vice president of new media and technology with Hearst New Media & Technology, where he notably launched and oversaw Hearst New Media & Technology. Moreover, Mr. Schott was the managing partner at Paradigm Partners LLC, a strategic advisory firm.

Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Schott garnered success as the deputy assistant secretary of international trade and investment for the U.S. Department of Treasury, was the head of strategic sales and marketing at Intellectual Ventures, and was the managing director at Charles Schott and Associates until 2019. Most recently, Mr. Schott was affiliated with 4ME4WE LLC from 2020 to 2022 as a senior advisor, chief innovation and growth officer, and senior advisor, where he was instrumental in establishing new product lines and supporting the company’s growth. Based in Saint Louis, the start-up became a distributor for UV Angel. This anti-pathogen company specializes in ultraviolet light technology that reduces harmful bacteria, viruses and mold on surfaces in the air.

In preparation for his future, Mr. Schott earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and economics from Stanford University in Stanford, California, in 1974, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1977, and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University in 1983. He also garnered certifications in Russian studies from Choate Rosemary Hall and French language and conversation from the Centre Medeterenee d’etudes Francais. Mr. Schott’s educational background has been pivotal to his diverse career achievements.

Since becoming an attorney, Mr. Schott has remained active in the New York Bar Association. He is also highly active civically, continuing to support his alma mater, Stanford University, and engaging with the Hoover Institution. Among other initiatives, Mr. Schott authored “Telecom 2000” in 1988.
