Ms. Myers specializes in supporting special education students, particularly those with emotional disabilities struggling to regulate their emotions in the classroom. She helps students focus on progress over perfection, encouraging them to celebrate improvements. She is also a contributor to “Self-Care for Chingonas: A Collection of Stories and Tips for Chingonas Like You,” compiled by Dr. Leti Cavazos, LCSW, and published by the Cannenta Foundation in 2023. Co-authored with her colleagues at the Cannenta Center for Healing and Empowerment, the book explores reclaiming personal power. In her chapter, she shares her journey from resisting therapy to embracing it, highlighting its transformative impact on her life and career success.
Ms. Myers also dedicates her time as a volunteer for Safe Church Training with The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas and is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was honored with the Presidential Volunteer Award in 2020 and Field Researcher of the Year from Texas Woman’s University in 2012. She attributes her success to strong and supportive mentors and her passion for making a difference. Looking ahead, she plans to retire from the school district to focus more on her private practice.
