Mr. Allen, a U.S. Army veteran of over 25 years, has transitioned into becoming the founder and chief executive officer of Christ and Counseling 2 Consulting LLC. Since 2024, he has been dedicated to offering his expertise as a mental health chaplain clinician by supporting other veterans who have experienced trauma related to war and military service. Mr. Allen focuses on areas like emotional distress, guilt and shame, helping heal their mental scars so they can live more fulfilling lives.
Enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1988, Mr. Allen served his country with distinction until 2015. His tenure included extensive experience as a chaplain in the service. He also served in this capacity for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs from 2017 to 2024 before launching his own business and briefly for the U.S. Department of Justice.
During his military career, Mr. Allen was an electrician, serving on active duty for four years. He then pursued higher education in Wichita, Kansas, attending Butler County Community and Friends University. Returning to the U.S. Army in 1992, Mr. Allen joined the reserves as a finance non-commissioned officer, which he maintained for over a decade. This experience saw him excel working for Koch Industries at the company’s headquarters in Wichita before becoming a lieutenant governor in the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing.
Over the next 10 years, Mr. Allen focused on earning his master’s degree, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 2006 with a focus on the psychology of religion and pastoral care from the seminary. He was then deployed for the first time to Iraq, where he spent the next two years. Mr. Allen subsequently served in Afghanistan before retiring in 2015.
Besides his degrees, Mr. Allen has been a licensed and ordained minister since 1999. He also became a board-certified mental health chaplain clinician through the National Association of VA Chaplains and a board-certified chaplain through the National Veterans Affairs Board Certification. Mr. Allen is presently pursuing a doctorate to provide more effective therapeutic advice and guidance to clients.
Mr. Allen is active in his professional community as a member of the National Association of VA Chaplains and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He is also civically engaged with the C.H. Mason Interdenominational Theological Seminary Alumni Association Inc. as the vice president and as a sponsor for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Highlighting his career success and dedication to serving his country, Mr. Allen was recognized for his efforts by being decorated with a Bronze Star Medal. He attributes his accomplishments to his faith, education, perseverance, commitment and dedication.
As he prepares for a bright future in counseling, Mr. Allen intends to open a facility to support unhoused veterans through a comprehensive 12-month program. The facility will be called Live Spiritual Center and will house 10 individuals at a time, providing them each with their own tiny home. During their stay, they will actively participate in a very structured routine that will focus on four primary areas: purpose, values, forgiveness, and establishing healthy boundaries. These areas will be broken up into quarterly sessions throughout the year. Motivated by his own experiences with major depressive disorder stemming from his service, Mr. Allen is excited to establish a safe and nurturing environment for veterans to begin their path to healing.
