Choosing to pursue this niche path, Mr. Dorian experienced various traumas throughout his life and frequently turned to unsupervised psychedelics to ease his pain. Besides losing his father to cancer, he lost his girlfriend to a drug overdose. This second tragedy changed his perspective on life, and he began surfing, spending a lot of time on the water to clear his mind. Ultimately, Mr. Dorian re-engaged with psychedelics and began developing essential skills for mental, emotional and spiritual healing. Shortly thereafter, he began working with individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder in the North San Diego area, and Psychedelist launched shortly thereafter.
Possessing a rich educational background, Mr. Dorian received a bachelor’s degree from California State University in San Bernardino, followed by a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of California in Riverside. His decision to pursue an education in mathematics stems from his late father, who was a mathematician and college professor.
A well-written writer, Mr. Dorian has garnered success as a published author. In 2024, he released “The 8 Root Fundamentals of Becoming a Psychedelic Guide (Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Foundations for a Peaceful Rewarding Life).” The 23-page introductory handbook was designed to provide psychedelic guidance and explore topics such as resilience, stillness and belief exploration. Besides his work-related endeavors, Mr. Dorian has been active with a local veteran’s group and has volunteered as a fundraiser for Clinika Research, an organization based in Arvada, Colorado, devoted to alternative health research of various products and technologies.
Mr. Dorian’s work is a testament to his belief that mental health can be approached as a skill-development process that everyone can apply to their lives. He also believes that psychological tools can assist individuals in strengthening their coping mechanisms and dealing with societal impacts with more grace.
Mr. Dorian intends to continue his writing quest, authoring his next book, “Lost in a Puddle,” to address other areas of the field. He also plans to focus on expanding Psychedelist and hire staff members to assist with the influx of business. Moreover, he plans to expand his services to address harm reduction. Outside of his primary work-related goals, Mr. Dorian is eager to advocate for legislative change regarding mental health treatment and the societal perspectives on substances.
