Anand Murali, senior supply chain leader at M A Mortenson Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in supply chain management.
With nearly two and a half decades of experience, Mr. Murali has established a successful career in supply chain management. Since 2024, he has served as a senior supply chain leader at Mortenson. In this role, he directly supervises six team members, managing the supply chain process from sourcing to procurement for consumables and indirect materials. He is also responsible for driving strategic spend, negotiating with suppliers, improving profitability, and leveraging ERP systems and technology to streamline procurement processes. His experience also includes various roles at Mortenson, including director of strategy and supply chain lead for digital and technology transformation from 2022 to 2024, director of strategy and innovation from 2020 to 2024, and director of corporate strategy and business development from 2018 to 2019. He also served with Eastman Chemical Company, holding roles such as corporate strategy manager in the commercial leadership program from 2016 to 2018, global product and pricing manager from 2014 to 2016, and market insight and strategy manager from 2013 to 2014.
Additionally, Mr. Murali was a marketing consultant intern in the marketing leadership development program at DuPont in 2012, deputy manager for marketing service at Ashok Leyland Ltd. in Chennai, India, as from 2008 to 2011, and graduate engineering trainee from 2007 to 2008. He is also an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and serves as a pro bono marketing and strategy consultant for various nonprofit organizations. He previously held leadership roles as president of the Toastmasters Club at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Laying an educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from PSG College of Technology, Anna University, Coimbatore, India, in 2007, and a Master of Business Administration in consulting, marketing, and operations management from Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in 2013.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Murali’s career began as deputy manager of marketing at a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, where he led cross-functional teams to develop innovative service products. A key milestone in his career was his participation in Eastman’s commercial leadership development program, gaining expertise in marketing, business management, and corporate strategy. Since joining Mortenson in 2018, he has held pivotal roles, including leading new market strategies, driving innovation initiatives in vertical integration and offsite manufacturing, and spearheading digital transformation efforts for supply chain operations. Currently, he oversees procurement for consumables and indirect materials, leveraging technology and supplier management to enhance profitability and team member experiences.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Murali has been honored with four employee recognition awards at Eastman Chemical Company. He attributes his success to perseverance, bold decision-making, strategic thinking, and a willingness to take calculated risks to achieve his goals. Looking to the future, his short-term goal is to grow into a general management role, where he can lead a business and drive profitability. In the long term, he envisions himself in a senior leadership position, guiding teams toward uncovering new opportunities and delivering innovative solutions.
