Mr. Kerst is distinguished for his expertise in the technology sector as a cloud transformation strategist. In 2023, he joined Qumulo as a territory account manager, a software development company based in Seattle. Working out of Orange County, California, his leading role encompasses guiding enterprise customers through their digital and organizational transformation journeys. As such, he helps organizations build and optimize hybrid cloud models to meet their evolving business needs. Mr. Kerst also leads meetings, manages organizational teams daily and ensures they remain current on strategy.
Leveraging his extensive background and data and account management expertise, Mr. Kerst worked for several significant organizations throughout his tenure before being acquired by Qumulo. He was a cloud architect for Panzura from 2021 to 2022 and a cloud solution executive between 2022 and 2023, where he was instrumental in disrupting the traditional NAS storage landscape. Mr. Kerst also enjoyed a distinguished tenure at EMC Corporation, which was later acquired by Dell Technologies, Dell Inc. Initially hired as a senior systems engineer in 2012, he worked his way up into various other positions, including manager of MIT system engineering, advisory system engineer and sales representative server and client desktop.
Earlier, Mr. Kerst garnered experience in his native Germany as a systems engineer at NetApp from 2008 to 2012 and as a project manager and technical account manager at Computershare Germany, Computershare Limited, between 2005 and 2008. He also worked as a banker in Germany before returning to college to pursue a career in technology.
Highly educated in his respective field, Mr. Kerst holds an undergraduate degree in business organization and programming and a Master of Business Administration in business informatics from the University of Duisburg-Essen. He previously received a banking and financial services diploma from Dresdner Bank AG (Now Commerzbank). Mr. Kerst’s professional credentials are extensive and include several designations from Dell EMC, Dell Inc. He also became a Microsoft-certified solutions expert and Microsoft-certified professional through FUWE GmbH and credentials as a Red Hat-certified systems administrator by FernUniversität in Hagen.
Apart from his dedication to his work, Mr. Kerst has been active in his community through various initiatives. He volunteered by dedicating his time to a local hospital, working with cancer patients. He also served as a coach at the YMCA of Orange County. Moreover, Mr. Kerst has been affiliated with an annual event called Movember, which takes place each November and caters to men’s health and supports research for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.
Lauded for his contributions, Mr. Kerst received several accolades, including the MVP for Q3 America West in 2015 and the MVP for Q2 Americas in 2016 from EMC Corporation. He credits much of his good fortune to the strong foundation laid by his father, who was an exemplary role model during his formative years. His mother’s empathetic nature also played an important role, creating a nurturing environment that allowed him to thrive. Furthermore, Mr. Kerst notes several incredible mentors who have shaped his career journey and provided him with essential insight and support.
