He is also responsible for ensuring all writers signed to the company are correctly paid from various sources. Additionally, Mr. Macson hosts frequent meetings and strategic discussions and collaborates with other departments and entities within Concord to ensure clients are receiving the best services possible. Notably, music publishing administration is a business that pays songwriters and creators for their work. It ensures that songs are registered worldwide, royalties are appropriately collected and creators are paid correctly.
Before progressing to his present position, Mr. Macson spent about two decades at Universal Music Publishing Group, beginning in an entry-level position as a global royalties assistant in 2006. He was later promoted to serve as the organization’s vice president of global administration in Franklin, Tennessee. Initially working remotely in the United Kingdom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he later relocated to the United States to oversee the office. Mr. Macson’s role involved managing the entire publishing group at the global level.
Mr. Macson’s foundational role in music publishing began at PRS for Music (PRSfM) from 2004 to 2006. Based in London, the company has been protecting the rights of our songwriters, composers and publishers for over 110 years. Having the opportunity to work at PRS set the tone for his future goals, playing a significant role in his aspirations.
Mr. Macson graduated from the University of Southampton in the U.K. with a Bachelor of Arts in 2004. While in college, he had his own show on the college radio station, which initially motivated him to pursue a music career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Macson has found great reward in mentoring college students and recent graduates interested in breaking into the music industry. He was also critical in recruiting interns at work and providing them with guidance. Among numerous other professional accomplishments, Mr. Macson successfully launched Universal Music Publishing Group’s client portal, which was a significant feat. He has also been involved in several system re-designs.
Having earned recognition from many of his peers, Mr. Macson has also been featured in a 2024 edition of the Nashville Voyager, a 2024 edition of Music Row and a 2025 edition of Canvas Rebels. These write-ups are a testament to his hard work and the notoriety he has garnered in this highly competitive field.
