Kristina “Kristie” R. Bailey, integrity officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in humanitarian work.
Ms. Bailey is a humanitarian and independent consultant who has been active in this sector for decades. Following in her father’s footsteps, who worked for one of the resettlement agencies in the United States, her responsibilities include focusing on cultural adjustments by helping individuals in the U.S. gain employment, self-empowerment and self-reliance as refugees settling within the country. Throughout her career, Ms. Bailey’s humanitarian work has been instrumental in places like Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Central America and the U.S., involved in refugee protection, processing and resettlement, training, counseling and coaching. Ms. Bailey is also affiliated with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the U.N. Refugee Agency, as an integrity officer, where she has been engaged in integrity and risk management.
Among numerous other roles throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Bailey has served as an interview, writer and editor for multiple different organizations between 1994 and 2020, a referral and resolution mechanism designer for the UNHCR from 2018 to 2019, and a risk management and compliance officer and standard operating procedures developer at several other organizations outside the UNHCR between 2005 and 2019. Ms. Bailey’s career with the UNHCR dates back to 1994 when she first served as a logistics coordinator of global volunteers. She served in the same capacity for the International Catholic Migration Commission and the LFS International House for many years.
Highly educated, Ms. Bailey received a Bachelor of Arts in public communication and intercultural communication from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1992 and a master’s degree in international and intercultural management, training, social change, sustainable development and refugee studies from the School for International Training in Vermont in 1998. Besides her formal education, she has remained at the forefront of her industry as a member of the Worldwide Women’s Association and the Refugee and Immigrant Support Coalition. Ms. Bailey has also been active civically on the board of the local non-governmental organization in Uganda since 2025. In preparation for the future, she aims to continue her work with refugees outside of the U.S., whether with the UNHCR or another United Nations organization.
