Ms. Dascalopoulos, general manager for JFK Hawaiian Airlines, has been serving in her leading position since 2019. Based in Honolulu, the airline has provided service for nearly a century and is recognized as the largest and longest-serving airline. Offering approximately 150 flights daily, the airline flies throughout the Hawaiian Islands and 15 U.S. cities. Ms. Dascalopoulos is stationed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York.
Leveraging over a decade of experience in air transportation, Ms. Dascalopoulos is tasked with making daily operational decisions while considering the business’s legal and financial aspects. She also manages finances, organizes marketing fundraisers, and collaborates with business partners on various matters. Ms. Dascalopoulos’s boldness in expressing her ideas has garnered her respect and recognition as a remarkable leader. She has also become lauded for her perseverance and ability to break barriers in the industry.
Ms. Dascalopoulos began her career as a ground handler and agent when Hawaiian Airlines first began servicing customers at John F. Kennedy International Airport. She later became a customer service lead at JetBlue Airways at the airport in 2012. Subsequently, Ms. Dascalopoulos was promoted to team lead between 2012 and 2019.
In addition to her primary career endeavors, Ms. Dascalopoulos has been actively engaged as the treasurer for the Kennedy Airport Airlines Management Council (KAAMCO) since 2024. Her role has been instrumental in the council’s continued success. KAAMCO comprises station managers of all scheduled airlines operating into and out of John F. Kennedy International Airport. Furthermore, Ms. Dascalopoulos has succeeded as a tour guide at the John F. Kennedy International Airport’s air terminal.
Ms. Dascalopoulos graduated from Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York, in 2010 with an Associate Degree in hospitality administration and management. She also received several professional credentials, including certification in hospitality, as a ground security coordinator and resolution officer. Additionally, Ms. Dascalopoulos holds an Occupational Safety and Health Administration certification.
Beyond her career, Ms. Dascalopoulos is a member of the Nassau Boces National Honor Society. She also engages in nonprofit initiatives like the Angel Flight Charity, which provides individuals with free air transportation for medically related needs throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. She is also affiliated with NFT Charter Services.
In light of her success, Ms. Dascalopoulos was honored by Schneps Media in 2024 among its Power Women of Queens. She found this accolade incredibly rewarding and was touched and humbled by the recognition. Ms. Dascalopoulos credits much of her professional success to her ability to problem-solve, think critically and work well under pressure. She also notes her structured upbringing, which instilled strong values and fostered a sense of integrity and responsibility. Furthermore, she credits the mentorship she has received throughout her career, which has enabled her to develop confidence, take calculated risks, and pursue opportunities in a challenging male-dominated industry.
As she prepares for the future, Ms. Dascalopoulos remains steadfast about nurturing and motivating team members, guiding and developing them to unlock their full potential. She also envisions collaborating with more community outreach and philanthropic organizations, where she can make a difference beyond her career.
