For nearly 30 years, Dr. Leiter has advanced a career that began as a pharmacist and has expanded to consulting and managing pharmacy businesses on a broad level. She started her lengthy tenure with Walgreens in 1996, joining the organization as a pharmacy intern while she went through school. From there, Dr. Leiter became a full pharmacist and pharmacy manager, before ascending even further to such roles as market pharmacy director, regional vice president of pharmacy and retail operations, and corporate operations vice president. In 2019, she took on her ultimate position at Walgreens, contributing for several years as the executive business lead of pharmacy transformation. After leaving Walgreens in 2021, Dr. Leiter remained in the pharmacy field, working as the senior vice president of emerging pharmacy channels at McKesson Corporation, the senior vice president of pharmacy field operations at Rite Aid Corp., the president and chief operating officer for BetterVet Mobile Vet Care, and an executive business consultant for C&S Wholesale Grocers LLC. In 2023, she launched her own company, Leiter Consulting Group LLC, where she serves as principal and chief operating officer, where she takes on consulting and advisory roles to aid retail, pharmacy and health care companies in achieving meaningful change and improvement.
Dr. Leiter first sought an education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in 2001. Subsequently, she earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2005. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Leiter returned to school in 2019, obtaining a Master of Business Administration in international business from Fort Hays State University. She is licensed as a pharmacist in Arizona and Illinois.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Leiter finds joy in remodeling her house, snow skiing, playing with her children and taking them to sports activities, and spending time with her family, especially at the lake. Looking ahead, she is committed to the continued growth of Leiter Consulting Group LLC. In line with that goal, Dr. Leiter aims to introduce improvements to the health care industry on the whole, with a focus on streamlining the patient experience. She believes there are major opportunities in this space for companies who are willing to work on them.
