This production line was notably recognized as the largest in the U.S. in over a decade, demonstrating Mr. Robbins’s visionary leadership. Additionally, Mr. Robbins launched the Veterans First hiring program, which has successfully integrated military veterans into the workforce, comprising over 10 percent of the company’s employees.
Since its establishment in the early 1970s, WPT Nonwovens Corporation has specialized in resin-bond nonwovens production to create an array of nonwoven fabrics for manufacturers. The company focuses on the importance of providing its customers with small and large orders, accommodating their every need. Before ascending to president at WPT Nonwovens Corporation, Mr. Robbins held several pivotal roles. As a plant manager from 2013 to 2017, he learned the intricacies of nonwoven production and implemented cost-saving measures that significantly enhanced operational efficiency. His leadership became evident when he was promoted to vice president and general manager in 2017. Under Mr. Robbins’s guidance, the company expanded its capacity and entered new markets, including nonwoven filtration products. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he also led efforts to produce personal protective equipment for frontline health care workers.
Mr. Robbins’ journey in the industry began with a profound inspiration from his grandfather, Wayne Robbins, whose resilience during the 2008 financial crisis led to the establishment of WPT Nonwovens Corporation. Raised in Owensboro, Kentucky, by a single mother, Mr. Robbins was deeply influenced by his grandfather’s commitment to preserving jobs and community ties.
Following high school, Mr. Robbins served honorably as a recon platoon squad leader in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007 to 2010. Upon his return, he joined the family business as a machine operator while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in global leadership from the University of Evansville, graduating cum laude in 2014.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Robbinsfinds fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. He is happily married to his wife of fourteen years, Nicole, and together they have four beautiful children: Amelia, Austin, Anna, & Reed Henry. His dedication to his family serves as a source of inspiration and motivation in both his personal and professional life.
Mr Robbins is also actively involved in various professional and civic organizations. He serves as a director on the Green River Area Industrial Center board and is a charter member of Go Fame, sponsoring industrial students at Owensboro Community College. Mr. Robbins’s commitment to community development is further exemplified as a parishioner at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro.
Mr. Robbins’ dedication to excellence has earned him recognition as Business of the Year by his local chamber of commerce in 2021. His tenure at WPT Nonwovens Corporation has also led to sales growth of over $20 million in under 10 years. Looking ahead, he aims to position WPT Nonwovens Corporation as a world-class provider of nonwoven filtration solutions while continuing to create quality jobs that support families and foster fulfilling lives within the community.
