Ms. Henry has established herself as a distinguished leader in workforce development, currently serving as the chief executive officer of California Human Development in Santa Rosa since 2025. In this role, she ensures the organization maintains a robust foundation to support the agricultural community and farmworkers. Ms. Henry’s leadership approach is deeply rooted in innovation and strengths-based leadership, emphasizing the importance of focusing on individual strengths to unlock potential and drive organizational progress.
Before her current position, Ms. Henry was the president and executive director of the Workforce Development Board of Solano County in Fairfield, California, from 2017 to 2025. During her tenure, she was instrumental in advancing initiatives in emerging industries, such as biotechnology and climate transition, as well as promoting upward mobility in health care.
Between 2016 and 2017, Ms. Henry served as the vice president of industry engagement and job services at WorkSource Montgomery in Rockville, Maryland. She was also the chief innovation officer at Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation in Laurel, Maryland, from 2012 to 2016, where she played a pivotal role in fostering innovative workforce solutions. Ms. Henry’s earlier roles at Anne Arundel included positions in grants and communications in Millersville, Maryland, between 2010 and 2012 and as a lead employment facilitator in Annapolis, Maryland, from 2009 to 2010.
Ms. Henry’s career began with roles that laid a strong foundation for her expertise in workforce development. She coordinated educational programs and publications for NAMI Maryland, a nonprofit mental health organization in Glen Burnie, from 2007 to 2008. She also garnered success at Anne Arundel Community College, where Ms. Henry served as a life skills and workforce instructor between 2004 and 2006, as an adult basic skills GED instructor on campus from 2005 to 2014, and as a youth intake specialist from 2006 to 2007.
A graduate of Mississippi, Ms. Henry received a Bachelor of Arts in History, cum laude, in 2001 and a Master of Arts in world history in 2003. She attributes her success to the unwavering support of those who believed in her journey, coupled with her persistent determination to achieve her goals.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Henry is actively involved with several industry-related organizations, including the National Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Executives, the California Workforce Association, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, and the Grants Professionals Association. She also serves on the board of Connections for Life and chairs the board of Solano Community Foundation.
Ms. Henry has made significant contributions to literature, with notable works such as her co-authored piece, “Engaging Youth Through Online Means” in 2013 and “Cultivating Innovation in Workforce Development” in 2016.
During her tenure with the Workforce Development Board of Solano County, Ms. Henry’s efforts were recognized internationally when she received the Career Services Organization of the Year award from Corporate Wire, highlighting her significant contributions at the local level. Looking ahead, she aims to continue advocating for the economic development of farmworkers through her work at California Human Development, while diversifying funding sources to support sustainable organizational growth.
