Ambima Hammer Buzhyason, founder, president and chief executive officer of Norcemic Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the biomedical industry.

Born in Nigeria, Mr. Buzhyason became fascinated with science from a young age. After winning a national science quiz competition in his home country, he was awarded with an advanced scholarship in the United States. Moving to the U.S. in 2009, Mr. Buzhyason initially studied premed but eventually chose to pursue biology. His professional life began in 2010 as an outpatient surgery waiting room volunteer at a women’s and children’s hospital.

Mr. Buzhyason took numerous opportunities to gain professional experience while continuing his education. He contributed as an intern at the University of Missouri’s Biomedical Informatics Institute, a research assistant and Amgen scholar at the University of California, San Diego, and a front desk attendant and student support services tutor at Columbia College. During his time at the latter institution, Mr. Buzhyason showcased his ambition and drive for leadership as founder and president of the Peace Club, president of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and president of the campus Model United Nations. From 2013 to 2016, he offered his insight as a graduate research assistant at the University of Missouri.

Demonstrating his growing expertise in the biomedical field, Mr. Buzhyason held the positions of epigenetics technical writer at EpiGenie and DNA analyst at PTC Laboratories for several years each. Beginning in 2017, he focused on teaching, including roles as an adjunct professor of microbiology, human biology and biological science at Columbia College; an adjunct instructor and blended learning assistant at Grand Canyon University; a math, science and technology teacher at Jefferson Preparatory High School; a computer science teacher at Sonoran Science Academy; a technical instructor at Per Scholas; and a data science instructor at New Apprenticeship. Mr. Buzhyason also served as an associate software developer at Revature and a computer science curriculum author at MRCC. Most recently, he has spent time as a mentor for startup executives with Newchip Accelerator and a data scientist with Blockchain Laboratories.

Mr. Buzhyason’s most notable endeavor began in 2019 when he launched Norcemic Inc., an idea he had been thinking about for many years prior. Collaborating closely with medical doctors, this company is devoted to developing cutting-edge medical technology products. Mr. Buzhyason is currently raising money for the company’s initial product, the SmartCemic QESA Pro, a blood glucose monitoring device paired with an app that aims to help users safely and efficiently monitor their and improve their health. He has signed a contract with StartEngine, a crowdfunding platform, in order to raise money and facilitate the launch of this product.

Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Buzhyason pursued an extensive academic foundation, beginning with a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry, graduating with distinction from Columbia College in 2013. He obtained two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in pathology, experimental pathology and molecular genetics with an emphasis on cancer and cancer epigenetics from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2017, and a Master of Business Administration in health care administration and management from Western Governors University in 2020. Committed to lifelong learning, Mr. Buzhyason is currently a candidate for a PhD in cybersecurity and data science through North Central University. He has earned certification in a wide range of categories, including the foundations of machine learning with Python, essential Excel training, advanced SQL, programming computer science principles, Java computer science principles, programming foundations and political data science.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Buzhyason is a devoted husband and a loving father to his 7-year-old son. Outside of work, he finds joy in exploring the world, spending time in nature, fishing and watching the sunset. Mr. Buzhyason expresses excitement for his future with Norcemic Inc. as the company seeks funding and Food and Drug Administration approval on its first product. Looking beyond that effort, he hopes to expand the company into other diagnostic fields and is considering ways in which artificial intelligence can be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of health care technology.
