Since 2020, Ms. Smith has served as the director of operations at Gantt Family Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this capacity, she manages daily operations, oversees staff development and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency. Concurrently, Ms. Smith served as an associate director and head of clinical safety at TFS HealthScience between 2022 and 2024, where she led clinical safety teams and contributed to the development of robust safety protocols.
Leveraging her previous success, Ms. Smith held several notable roles throughout her career with companies like FHI Clinical Inc. as a manager of pharmacovigilance, PDD as a manager of pharmacovigilance group safety administration, senior manager of pharmacovigilance group safety administration and principal safety reporting specialist, and Biogen Idec, where she worked in patient service. Ms. Smith’s career began in 2001 with Yázigi as an account coordinator.
Highly educated, Ms. Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature/letters from Universidade Paranaense (UNIPAR) in Brazil in 2004. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Education in teaching English and French as a second or foreign language at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in 2006. In addition to her formal education, Ms. Smith has received numerous professional certifications from organizations such as LinkedIn Learning, including those in professional networking, problem-solving techniques and more. She also received credentials from the University of Minnesota in medical technology and evaluation, The George Washington University via Coursera in leading health care quality and safety, and Wake Technical Community College in biotechnology, among others.
Ms. Smith’s civic involvement includes volunteering with Women In Bio since 2012. She also participates in charitable work through her church community and is a member of her local Rotary Club.
