Fr. Maurice Ibrahim, Reverend Priest at St. Athanasius American Coptic Orthodox Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Pastoral Care.
Fr. Ibrahim has dedicated himself to serving as a reverend priest at St. Athanasius American Coptic Orthodox Church in Lake Mary, Florida, a role he has upheld since 2017. In this capacity, he oversees the spiritual and practical needs of nearly 150 families, providing pastoral care, managing church operations and leading significant renovation projects for both the church building and its surrounding land. Fr. Ibrahim’s leadership has been instrumental in expanding ministries and services, including the development of outreach programs for the homeless and monthly service at local shelters.
Among a range of additional responsibilities, Fr. Ibrahim oversees catechism instruction for those interested in joining the Orthodox Church, baptizes new members, officiates weddings and conducts family services. Additionally, Fr. Ibrahim is preparing to open a preschool on church grounds, with a vision to further develop resources, such as a seniors’ home and a gymnasium for youth activities, to serve both parishioners and the wider community.
Before his ordination, Fr. Ibrahim built a distinguished career in corporate leadership and advisory positions. In 2017, he held the position of principal of acquisition and divestment at BHP, a mining company based in Australia, following over five years in corporate development, valuation and strategy for the firm from 2011 to 2017.
Before joining BHP, Fr. Ibrahim was a manager at The Pinnacle Group from 2010 to 2011. Between 2007 and 2010, he worked as project area manager at Tata Steel, directing engineering projects and managing cross-functional teams. Fr. Ibrahim’s earlier experience included serving as a process and research engineer at United States Steel Corporation, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturing company, from 2004 to 2007. He also worked as a research engineer at McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute from 2002 to 2004 after launching his career as a junior production engineer at ArvinMeritor, now Meritor, Inc., in 2000. In addition to his primary roles, Fr. Ibrahim has contributed his expertise as an advisory board member for STS Capital Partners, SureFire Capital and AdvisoryCloud from 2021 to 2023.
Fr. Ibrahim’s academic background reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and excellence. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from McMaster University in 2002, a Master of Applied Science in mechanical engineering from McMaster University in 2004, and a Master of Business Administration in corporate finance and strategy from the Rotman School of Management in Toronto in 2012, where he was recognized with the Rotman Citizenship Award for his contributions to the academic community. In addition to his formal education, Fr. Ibrahim completed executive education in mergers and acquisitions at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2014. He is certified as a professional engineer by Professional Engineers Ontario.
As a leader in his field, Fr. Ibrahim became a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and the Professional Engineers Ontario. Meanwhile, his civic engagement extends beyond church walls through monthly outreach at homeless shelters, regular visits to prisons and jails, support for hospital patients and assistance at senior citizen communities.
Throughout his career, Fr. Ibrahim has credited his achievements to the sacrifices made by his parents, who emigrated from Egypt to provide greater opportunities for their family. His transition into the priesthood was motivated by a desire for a deeper purpose beyond corporate success. Despite rapid advancement by age 35, including the management of significant financial transactions, he sought more meaningful ways to serve others. Upon accepting an invitation from the Orthodox Church in Orlando, Florida, in 2017, Fr. Ibrahim began his vocation as a reverend priest, a role through which he finds fulfillment guiding individuals toward faith, supporting those facing hardship and mentoring those who are lost or struggling.
