Altereek Stembridge, DBA, Director of Information Technology at Shapiro, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in Information Technology and Logistics.
Dr. Stembridge has enjoyed over two decades in both information technology (IT) and logistics, marked by progressive leadership and technical expertise. Since 2022, he has served as the director of IT and as a member of the leadership council at Shapiro. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Shapiro is recognized as a third-generation, family-owned international shipping and logistics business that was founded in 1915.
In his role, Dr. Stembridge is responsible for meeting with stakeholders, guiding his management team, ensuring clear direction on deadlines and deliverables, and fostering collaboration through solution architecture. Additionally, he is tasked with reporting on key metrics and overseeing the overall flow of solution design and development. Under Dr. Stembridge’s stewardship, the organization has achieved a high success rate in project delivery.
Dr. Stembridge’s most notable professional accomplishment since joining Shapiro was leading a comprehensive digital transformation initiative. This project required reimagining business processes and implementing innovative solutions to replace legacy systems that had been in place for over two decades. Dr. Stembridge’s efforts resulted in significant operational improvements and positioned the company for future growth.
Recruited to Shapiro from GS1 US, Dr. Stembridge held the position of director of technology, product and systems from 2017 to 2022. In this capacity, he also spearheaded a major digital transformation, guiding the organization through the modernization of highly customized legacy solutions. Dr. Stembridge first joined G21 US in 2016, when he was appointed as a global standards manager.
From 2014 to 2016, Dr. Stembridge served as a U.S. IT solutions manager and eSolutions manager at GEODIS, where he managed technology-driven projects. He also excelled as a business analyst at TRAC Intermodal®, a transportation company.
Dr. Stembridge’s earlier experience included serving as a supply chain business consultant at Panalpina from 2013 to 2014 and as an integration project manager at Kuehne+Nagel between 2011 and 2013.
Among other notable roles, Dr. Stembridge was employed by Interlink Transport Technologies, Inc., as an EDI business analyst and EDI assistant manager, where he played a pivotal role in implementing BizTalk Server and led the rollout of the U.S. Customs ISF Joint Filing Initiative. He also gained foundational expertise at Hapag-Lloyd AG after serving as a contract IT support analyst for several pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Stembridge is a graduate of Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on computer information systems in 2019, followed by a Master of Science in information systems in 2021 and a Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in organizational leadership in 2025.
In addition to his formal education, Dr. Stembridge acquired several industry designations that have furthered his expertise. He holds a professional certificate from the computer technical support program at Katharine Gibbs School, project management certification from Raritan Valley Community College, and certifications as a SAFe® 6 practice consultant and SAFe® 6 product owner/product manager from Scaled Agile, Inc.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Stembridge is committed to civic engagement and mentorship. He serves as the president of the New Jersey chapter of STEM Day Family Reunion and mentors young professionals through The Young Black Professional organization.
Throughout his career, Dr. Stembridge has demonstrated expertise in digital transformations, logistics management, systems integration, EDI and supply chain optimization. These achievements reflect his commitment to excellence in these complex fields. Looking ahead, Dr. Stembridge plans to establish BridgeTech Solutions, a consultancy dedicated to bridging the gap between business objectives and technological solutions. He also intends to pursue opportunities as an adjunct professor. His goal is to seek recognition not only for his technical expertise but also for his genuine care for people.
