Miguel C. Valenzuela, vice president of digital product at LATAM Airlines Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in aviation and industrial civil engineering.
For nearly 15 years, Mr. Valenzuela has built his expertise in the aviation industry, encompassing a decade focused on safety and operations before transitioning into digital product development. He began his professional journey while attending school in his home country of Chile. Before graduating, Mr. Valenzuela had the opportunity to conduct research in Chile and Germany. This experience allowed him to establish foundational knowledge in mathematics and optimization that would form the basis for his career moving forward.
Following graduation, Mr. Valenzuela’s first role was an internship with Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN), where he helped design the company’s benefits system. From there, he briefly contributed as a quality management expert to WOM SA, a Chilean telecommunications company, before joining LATAM Airlines as an export analyst.
Affiliated with LATAM Airlines Group since 2013, Mr. Valenzuela quickly accepted a progression of greater responsibilities in his early years with the company, including becoming a project manager, an export manager, project manager for Spanish-speaking countries and senior operations manager for Spanish-speaking countries. In 2018, he accepted the position of senior operations manager and immigrated to the United States. Mr. Valenzuela was later promoted to cargo operations director; operations, project, quality and safety director for global LATAM cargo; and digital product director. Since 2025, he has served as the vice president of digital product for the company.
In his current position, Mr. Valenzuela’s duties include developing LATAM Airlines Group’s product road map, conducting market research, analyzing customer feedback, monitoring performance indicators, leading the product team, and collaborating with multiple other teams at the company, such as engineering, design and marketing. He takes pride in being an empathetic leader who shares knowledge with his colleagues and encourages a culture of collaboration. Among his many achievements throughout his professional life, Mr. Valenzuela highlights the creation of a novel methodology for optimizing aircraft as a noteworthy accomplishment. His efforts reflect an unwavering dedication to constant learning in math, engineering, leadership and artificial intelligence (AI).
Mr. Valenzuela’s performance in the field was born of his academic journey. He completed an academic exchange program in industrial engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany in 2011. Subsequently, he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial civil engineering from the University of Santiago, Chile, in 2013. He was given top academic honors during his school years, including the Galileo Galilei Award for Academic Excellence and the Leonhard Euler Award for Academic Excellence.
In addition to his traditional education, Mr. Valenzuela’s success has been supported by his strong connection to his spiritual beliefs as a practicing Buddhist for 11 years. Through guidance from his current master and lessons from the texts and oral traditions of Buddhist masters throughout history, he has learned how to apply these insights to his daily life and career. Mr. Valenzuela has also studied sacred mathematics, coming to view his job as not merely technical but an alignment of form, function and flow built on ancient wisdom. He hopes to share many of the ideas he has developed in a forthcoming book.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Valenzuela is a devoted husband to his wife, Natalia, and a loving father to two children, Martin and Rafael. In his free time, he finds joy in practicing tae kwon do with his son and meditating. Alongside writing a book, Mr. Valenzuela also envisions expanding the scope of his work in the future. While he plans to continue his path in the aviation field, he also believes he can provide valuable insight through consulting in other industries.
