Mr. Wright has established a notable career in public utilities and electrical operations, marked by a steady progression through increasingly responsible roles. Since 2024, he has served as the director of power delivery and operations for the City of Longmont, Colorado. In this capacity, Mr. Wright is responsible for managing daily operations, responding to emergencies and proactively addressing potential challenges within the city’s power infrastructure. His leadership is characterized by a hands-on approach to both immediate issues and long-term strategic planning, ensuring reliable service for the community.
Before joining the City of Longmont, Mr. Wright was the senior manager of electrical operations at Paxon Energy & Infrastructure Inc. from 2022 to 2024. There, he supported dozens of utilities, focusing on operational efficiency and crisis response. Mr. Wright also spent nearly a decade at Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, beginning in 2013 as a subsea engineer and then as a senior transmission grid controller from 2015 to 2019. Between 2019 and 2022, Mr. Wright served as an electrical operations manager at Oncor. During this time, he played a pivotal role in managing the response to Winter Storm Uri in Texas in 2021. The severe ice storm threatened the stability of the entire Texas power grid, but under Mr. Wright’s leadership, his team was instrumental in preventing a catastrophic collapse and maintaining grid operations during unprecedented demand and stress.
Mr. Wright’s professional journey began with six years of service in the U.S. Navy as a reactor plant operations manager from 2007 to 2013. Stationed aboard the USS George Washington in Yokosuka, Japan, he was part of Operation Tomodachi following the Fukushima reactor meltdown in 2011. Mr. Wright’s contributions were vital in supporting Japan’s recovery efforts during this crisis, drawing on his advanced training in nuclear engineering theory and operations.
Mr. Wright earned a Bachelor of Science in nuclear energy engineering technology at Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey, in 2020. He followed with an Executive Master of Business Administration from MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2025. Mr. Wright also holds two certifications from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, including a reliability coordinator certification and a reliability coordinator system operator certification.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Wright is civically engaged through organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, reflecting a broader commitment to community welfare.
Mr. Wright’s military service was recognized with multiple medals from the U.S. Navy between 2007 and 2013. He attributes much of his military and professional success to fortuitous opportunities arising from professional connections rather than deliberate pursuit, emphasizing a genuine passion for his work despite its demanding nature.
Looking ahead, Mr. Wright aspires to expand his influence within public service, whether by advancing in organizational leadership or contributing as an advisor or board member to initiatives, such as Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Enhancing Distribution Grid Anticipatory Resilience program, where he currently serves on the advisory board, supporting cost-effective solutions for utility resilience. Ultimately, Mr. Wright hopes to be remembered as someone who genuinely served others’ best interests and who made a meaningful difference by improving lives through dedicated action and principled leadership.
