Mr. Van Doorn, an expert in his field, currently serves as the director of sales and marketing at MP Equipment LLC, a role he has held since 2018. In this capacity, he oversees a broad range of responsibilities, including manufacturing operations through direct collaboration with the plant manager, leading sales and marketing initiatives, and supervising service operations. Mr. Van Doorn’s leadership at MP Equipment LLC is informed by decades of experience in the food-processing and packaging-equipment industry.

Before joining MP Equipment LLC, Mr. Van Doorn was the vice president of sales at Nercon from 2016 to 2018. During his tenure, he led sales strategies and expanded the company’s market presence in conveyor systems for the food and consumer goods industries.

Recruited from Provisur Technologies, Mr. Van Doorn spent five years as the North American sales manager for bacon and ready-to-eat systems, beginning in 2011. In this position, he managed key accounts and developed tailored solutions for clients in the protein-processing sector, further establishing his expertise in automated food-processing technologies. Earlier, Mr. Van Doorn excelled as the sales director and senior key account manager at GEA Group from 2008 to 2011. He also served as vice president of sales and marketing at Unitherm Food Systems between 2006 and 2008, where he led business development and contributed to the company’s growth in thermal food-processing equipment.

Mr. Van Doorn’s earlier experience included serving as Midwest sales manager for business development at Weber Maschinenbau GmbH from 2001 to 2006. In this role, he focused on expanding the company’s footprint in slicing and automation solutions for the food industry. Mr. Van Doorn also worked as the North American product and sales manager for automatic weighing systems at Baader Johnson from 1998 to 2001.

Among other influential roles, Mr. Van Doorn spent a significant portion of his career at Cryovac, now Sealed Air, where he began as an extrusion engineer in 1983. Over more than 15 years, until 1999, he advanced through several roles, including national sales and service manager. One of his most notable achievements during this period was transforming Cryovac’s service force. Recognizing inefficiencies in the existing structure, in which more than 50 technicians operated independently, Mr. Van Doorn reorganized them into teams with dedicated supervisors across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Throughout his career, Mr. Van Doorn has been an active speaker and educator. He delivered lectures on state-of-the-art poultry packaging systems for the South American Poultry Federation in Venezuela and Brazil, sharing insights on technological advancements with industry professionals. Mr. Van Doorn also served as a guest lecturer at Louisiana State University during the late 1980s and early 1990s on poultry packaging systems.

Mr. Van Doorn’s academic background includes an Associate of Arts in biology and chemistry from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1975, and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with a minor in business from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, completed in 1981. His commitment to professional development is further reflected in his memberships with several industry organizations, including The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and ASHRAE.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Van Doorn is actively involved in civic organizations, including the U.S.-Turkey Business Council and the International Chamber of Commerce. He is also affiliated with Go Red for Women and Rotary International, where he has helped build ramps for individuals with disabilities and older adults in his community. Furthermore, Mr. Van Doorn contributes to several local charities and has served as a scout commissioner, a role that reflects his long-standing commitment to youth development. Notably, he is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Van Doorn has contributed to his field through publications such as “Best Practices of Field Service,” published in 1997, which underscores his dedication to operational excellence. Additionally, he holds co-patents in packaging and processing equipment developed with a creative partner during his tenure in the industry.

Attributing much of his success to the support of his family, whose understanding and encouragement have helped him overcome challenges and reach his full potential, Mr. Van Doorn remains driven to help others realize theirs. Through decades of leadership in engineering, sales management and service innovation in the food processing equipment sector, he exemplifies a dedication to professional excellence. Looking ahead, Mr. Van Doorn plans to write both nonfiction and fiction and to increase his volunteer work, applying his skills to impactful community projects.
