In this capacity, Dr. Williams is dedicated to researching the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and human resources, focusing on how technological advancements impact people, privacy and the human component within organizations. As a nationally recognized leader in data governance, AI ethics and information accountability, Dr. Williams’s work emphasizes understanding the effects of AI on employees and the broader implications for human resources decision-making across industries.

In addition to her work at DataLeadership Solutions, Dr. Williams has also contributed as an adjunct instructor at Southern New Hampshire University in Hooksett since 2023, where she shares her expertise with students and helps shape the next generation of professionals in her field. Dr. Williams currently teaches courses in data and analytics.

Further enhancing her credentials, Dr. Williams began serving as an associate director of data governance for Humana in 2024. Humana is recognized as a leading health insurance company based in Kentucky.

Before these roles, Dr. Williams excelled as the director of data governance and quality at Optum from 2023 to 2024, where she oversaw a team of data governance and quality specialists who continually enhanced data integrity and compliance in the health care sector. She also worked for the Association of American Medical Colleges, in data warehousing and data management between 2009 and 2017, and then as a manager of data governance and standards until 2023. Dr. Williams’s tenure with the association was pivotal in developing and implementing data management frameworks that supported the organization’s mission to advance medical education and research.

Dr. Williams began her professional journey at the State Department Federal Credit Union, where she held several positions over a decade. Her career at the credit union began as a senior loan officer from 1999 to 2005, during which she provided financial guidance and support to members. As a training specialist between 2005 and 2007, she developed programs to enhance employee skills and organizational performance. Additionally, Dr. Williams managed human resources information systems from 2007 to 2009, ensuring effective integration of technology solutions for personnel management.

Dr. Williams’s academic achievements have been foundational to her career progression. She completed engineering coursework at Carnegie Mellon University between 1990 and 1992, which provided her with a strong analytical foundation early in her academic journey. She later acquired a Bachelor of Science in information systems with a focus on database administration from Strayer University-Maryland, completed in 2008, a Master of Science in information systems technology from the school of business at The George Washington University, awarded in 2012, and a Doctor of Philosophy in business administration with a concentration in management and operations from Northcentral University in 2019.

Further underscoring her expertise, Dr. Williams is certified as a data management professional by DAMA International and as an information privacy technologist. She is currently pursuing additional credentials as an artificial intelligence governance professional.

Dr. Williams’s professional affiliations include membership in The National Society of Leadership and Success, reflecting her dedication to continuous growth and excellence in leadership. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is civically engaged through volunteering, mentoring and tutoring students in schools, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to community service.

Dr. Williams’s entry into health care was shaped by personal experiences during her academic years, when she balanced caring for her mother with professional responsibilities. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her commitment to mentorship and leadership development. She attributes her achievements to perseverance, embracing opportunities and confronting challenges directly. Additionally, Dr. Williams acknowledges that her family’s support has been integral to her accomplishments.

Looking ahead, Dr. Williams is focused on establishing a nonprofit organization dedicated to leadership development and is actively seeking funding opportunities for this endeavor for individuals in underserved areas. She envisions launching this initiative alongside DataLeadership Solutions, further expanding her impact on both for-profit and nonprofit sectors while continuing to champion data leadership principles rooted in human-centered values.
