Since 2021, Mr. Visca has served as the chief technology officer at Vertex Inc., an established global provider of indirect tax technology solutions based in Pennsylvania, where he leads a team of approximately 1,000 employees in product development at his office in Miami, Florida. Under his guidance, the company is approaching a significant milestone of $1 billion in revenue. He views this achievement as a testament to his ongoing efforts to help public companies scale globally. In addition to his operational responsibilities, Mr. Visca is actively engaged with some of the world’s largest corporations, including Starbucks, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon, collaborating on software solutions and maintaining strong professional relationships with their teams.

Mr. Visca’s expertise is further demonstrated through his concurrent role as a strategic adviser at Olyn, a streaming solution for filmmakers, since 2019. Previously, he leveraged his expertise by serving on the boards of Energy Exemplar from 2021 to 2023, Absolute Software between 2014 and 2023, and DDS Wireless from 2006 to 2007.

Among other notable roles, Mr. Visca spent 2010 to 2021 as the chief technology officer consultant at Software CTO Inc. in Vancouver, Canada. During this period, he also held the position of chief technology officer at Elastic Path Software from 2011 to 2021, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the company’s technological capabilities.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Visca was the senior vice president and chief technology officer for the Application and BI Platform Group at SAP from 2008 to 2010. Prior to this position, he spent several years as the chief technology officer at SAP BusinessObjects, starting in 2005. One of his most notable achievements during this time was facilitating SAP’s acquisition of Business Objects, a landmark transaction that was the third-largest software acquisition ever at that time. Mr. Visca is particularly proud of his contributions to Business Objects’ growth and successful integration into SAP, where he continued building vibrant business initiatives within the organization.

Mr. Visca held several key roles at Infowave for more than five years, between 1999 and 2005, including chief technology officer, vice president of engineering and interim co-president. He began his professional journey in 1988 as a software development executive in e-Business Solutions at IBM, where he developed a foundational understanding of how technology can transform businesses.

In preparation for his future, Mr. Visca obtained a Bachelor of Science in computer science, with honors, from Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, in 1988. This formal education provided him with critical analytical skills that have supported his ongoing professional growth and ability to navigate complex technological landscapes.

Throughout his career, Mr. Visca has been an active member of several prominent industry organizations. He currently serves as a council member for both the Forbes Technology Council and the CNBC Technology Executive Council. He is also affiliated with the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Beyond corporate leadership roles and professional memberships, Mr. Visca has demonstrated civic engagement through volunteer work with Weeks of Service at Vertex Inc., contributing time and expertise to community-focused initiatives. Earlier, while residing in Vancouver, he actively participated in organizations addressing local issues affecting women and children and served on committees dedicated to fostering business development for underprivileged populations.

Reflecting on industry evolution over nearly four decades, Mr. Visca notes the profound impact of technological revolutions, from mobile advancements and cloud computing to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation networks, such as 4G and 5G. He emphasizes that anticipating future developments is essential for sustained success in technology-driven environments.

Mr. Visca credits much of his success to recognizing how technology influences people’s lives and businesses while remaining acutely aware of the need for responsible innovation as society adapts to accelerating change. Currently captivated by AI’s potential and mindful of its societal implications, he dedicates significant effort to studying AI governance and its broader impact on society. Looking ahead, Mr. Visca aims to democratize AI by establishing robust governance frameworks that ensure its benefits are widely accessible while mitigating risks such as job displacement through automation. He also intends to remain an active operator for years to come while gradually increasing involvement in board activities and advisory roles focused on exploring technology’s broader societal applications beyond traditional business contexts.
