Before joining Metus Lykos, she became the chief executive officer of Portfolio Company and chief operating officer at HighBreed Corporation, a Canadian-based venture capital and private equity firm, in 2022. Ms. Van Dam also excelled from 2014 to 2022 as the executive director and chief executive officer of One Million Solutions in Health, a company based in Massachusetts that has developed a program to find solutions that can improve healthcare globally. Prior to this, she served as the general manager at the pharmaceutical manufacturing company Cambridge Healthtech Associates between 2011 and 2014.
Earlier, Ms. Van Dam spent over a decade as the president of healthcare insights and solutions at Health Connexions, beginning in 2000. During this period, she also contributed as the chief marketing officer at the University of Guelph and as the senior vice president for Healthcare Everywhere at PCAS Patient Care Automation Services Inc. Among her earlier roles, Ms. Van Dam worked as a pharmacy renewal program director at Loblaws Inc., following her role as the chief operating officer and chief financial officer at HealthWithCare from 2005 to 2008.
Ms. Van Dam’s leadership extended into governance as the board chair of the Four Villages Community Health Center between 1999 to 2005. She previously garnered success as the director of marketing and business development at St. Michael’s Hospital from 1999 to 2000 and as the director of sales, marketing and business operations at Lilly USA, LLC, dating back to 1996.
In addition to her corporate achievements, Ms. Van Dam has continued to lead Canyon Entertainment Group as its president and chief executive officer since 2014. In 2017, she founded Girl Pow-R, a music group dedicated not only to performance but also to empowering young women with skills such as confident stage presence and professional communication. Under her guidance as the executive producer and founder, Girl Pow-R was nominated for a Juno Award after just three years. The group has performed more than 450 shows in Canada and completed two tours in the United States, while receiving widespread media coverage. Ms. Van Dam is currently aiming to expand its reach into the United States with plans for new initiatives in Hollywood. Furthermore, she has served as the executive producer and host for Star Pow-R concerts since 2020 and as the executive director of the Music Matters Club since 2021.
Ms. Van Dam’s educational foundation includes earning a bachelor’s degree in economics with specializations in decision sciences, organizational management and software programming from the University of Pennsylvania. Her academic training provided the analytical framework that underpins her success across healthcare delivery systems, laboratory management, genetics research support and business strategy.
Memberships such as the Friars Senior Society, a senior honor society of the University of Pennsylvania, continue to reflect Ms. Van Dam’s commitment to professional engagement. She is also active civically as a juror for The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings since 2018.
