Since 2023, he has served as the president of the NE Institute, Center for Allied Health Studies, where he is responsible for overseeing the institution’s direction and program development. Under his guidance, the institute has gained approval from both the state of Texas and national bodies. Dr. Olugbami has prioritized integrating technology into his curriculum, responding to rising demand for programs in artificial intelligence and technical trades such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology. Notably, he leads a team of doctors, nurses and other professionals who contribute to the school’s diverse offerings.
Before his current role, Dr. Olugbami was affiliated with Richland College, now Dallas College, within the Dallas County Community College District. There, he taught anatomy and physiology and played a pivotal role in developing educational programs that reached colleges throughout Texas.
In addition to his teaching and administrative roles, Dr. Olugbami has served as a proctor at Kennedy University, the California College of Health Sciences and for the National Certification Exam. These responsibilities reflect his broad expertise in academic assessment and professional certification within allied health fields.
Dr. Olugbami’s scientific acumen is further demonstrated by his involvement in research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His work on lipid studies contributed valuable insights into treatment options for patients without repeated myocardial infarctions. This research examined medication regimens, surgical interventions such as ileal or jejunum bypasses and dietary strategies to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Olugbami’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 1983, a Master of Science in pharmacology and microbiology from Richland College, now Dallas College, in Dallas, Texas, in 1996, and a Doctor of Philosophy. The rigorous training Dr. Olugbami received at these institutions equipped him with expertise that has benefited countless students and colleagues throughout his career.
Membership in organizations such as the American Society for Pharmaceutical Educators underscores Dr. Olugbami’s commitment to advancing his field. He is also active in the Texas League of Innovation, where his efforts have been acknowledged with several accolades. Beyond academia and research, Dr. Olugbami is civically engaged as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at North Gallon Baptist Church, where he has been recognized for his dedication.
Throughout his career, Dr. Olugbami has been recognized for his innovative contributions to education and science. In 1997, he received the Innovator Award for his work with the Innovators in Texas. This distinction included institutions such as Richland College, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin. Among other accomplishments, Dr. Olugbami’s commitment to educational excellence led him to collaborate with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, ensuring high placement rates for graduates. His innovative approach garnered recognition from the state of Texas and resulted in national attention through publications and media appearances.
Dr. Olugbami attributes much of his success to values instilled by his parents during childhood, especially treating others with respect and kindness, and expresses gratitude for opportunities to help others just as he once received support himself. His passion for teaching, particularly in chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, has driven much of his success. Dr. Olugbami takes pride in developing new programs that address emerging trends in education and healthcare technology while maintaining transparency and integrity in all services offered by his institution.
Looking ahead, Dr. Olugbami aims to expand opportunities within nursing education at the NE Institute, Center for Allied Health Studies. Motivated by a desire to address disparities faced by African Americans seeking admission to nursing schools and medical institutions, particularly in southern regions, he remains committed to fostering inclusion while serving all members of his community. Dr. Olugbami’s distinguished record as an educator, scientist and innovator serves as an inspiration within allied health studies and beyond.
