Earlier in his career, beginning in the 1980s, Mr. Rhodes worked as a programmer before transitioning into application development. As part of a pioneering six-member team, he co-developed the first global yard control system, an innovation that automated container movement on ships and trucks worldwide. This groundbreaking project also included the creation of a customs program that streamlined container loading processes through automation.
Mr. Rhodes’ international experience is extensive. He spent nearly 15 years working throughout Asia, including several years as an expatriate, where he was tasked with improving regional operations by developing new programs and training staff across nearly a dozen countries. Additionally, Mr. Rhodes’s volunteer activities included participating in clean-up efforts at Golden Gate Park, donating gifts to children during the Christmas season and supporting community initiatives through the companies where he has been employed.
