Ms. Whitmyer’s career in the healthcare sector is distinguished by her expertise in helping communities increase profitability through high occupancy rates and boosting staff morale. Since January 2025, she has served as the executive director at Luther Park at Sandpoint in Sandpoint, Idaho, an assisted living facility near the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, where she focuses on the financial needs of the community and leads efforts to train and empower the leadership team. She also provides clinical assistance as required and reports monthly to the board on financial matters, working collaboratively to create a successful environment for all. Ms. Whitmyer’s approach encourages staff to share ideas and fosters a strong sense of community while ensuring residents’ individual needs are addressed.
Before joining Luther Park at Sandpoint, Ms. Whitmyer was the executive director at Pegasus Senior Living’s South Hill Village in Spokane, Washington, from 2024 to 2025. In this role, she continued her commitment to transforming senior living facilities into thriving communities. Between 2022 and 2024, she held the position of executive director at Brookdale Senior Living Inc. in Newberg, Oregon. There, Ms. Whitmyer honed her leadership skills and deepened her understanding of the unique needs of seniors and their families.
Among Ms. Whitmyer’s earlier experience, she excelled as the executive director at Westmont Living in Lincoln City, Oregon, from 2019 to 2022. She was also an administrator at Clatsop Memory Care within Clatsop Care Health District in Seaside, Oregon, from 2018 to 2019. Between 2016 and 2018, Ms. Whitmyer worked as an administrator at Garden Plaza with Century Park Associates in Post Falls, Idaho, a formative period during which she became involved with nonprofit initiatives inspired by her colleagues’ personal stories.
Ms. Whitmyer began her journey in senior living after working as an administrative professional at Creekside Inn Memory Care with Koelsch Communities from 2014 to 2016. Her professional foundation was established earlier in corrections as a segregation officer with CoreCivic in Florence, Arizona, beginning in 2005. As the first woman in over five years to work in segregation and later as a sergeant, Ms. Whitmyer developed resilience and adaptability that would serve her well throughout her subsequent career.
A hallmark of Ms. Whitmyer’s professional journey is her ability to bridge generational gaps within senior communities while maintaining high standards of care and profitability. She is widely recognized across Oregon, Washington and Idaho for transforming facilities into successful environments that enhance seniors’ quality of life. Ms. Whitmyer’s passion for Alzheimer’s and dementia care began when a family member was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. This experience led her to pursue a new direction in caregiving after a successful career in corrections.
Ms. Whitmyer’s academic background included coursework in child development from Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, California. This educational foundation has contributed to her understanding of developmental stages across the lifespan and informed her compassionate approach to elder care.
Ms. Whitmyer also holds certifications as a residential care facility administrator through the Oregon Department of Human Services and as a residential care facility for the elderly administrator from the State of Idaho. These credentials have enabled Ms. Whitmyer to meet regulatory requirements while providing exceptional leadership within each organization she has served.
Deeply involved with industry-related organizations such as BNI Global LLC, the Idaho Health Care Association, the Oregon Health Care Association and the Washington Health Care Association, Ms. Whitmyer is also the founder of the Women In Business chapter in Sandpoint, reflecting her commitment to advancing women’s leadership within the business community. In addition to her professional affiliations, she serves as the vice president of One More Time, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling wishes for individuals nearing the end of their lives. Inspired by a friend’s vision to help families create lasting memories together, One More Time has enabled people as old as 107 years to experience meaningful moments with loved ones through vacations, concerts or unique adventures, such as sidecar rides for veterans in hospice care. The organization also produces legacy videos for families and raises funds for various nonprofits throughout the year.
Ms. Whitmyer has been featured in Go Sandpoint Magazine for her work at Luther Park at Sandpoint. Her accolades include the Momentum Google Award in 2026 and being named Best in Bonner County three times, recognitions that underscore her impact on both residents and staff.
Committed to supporting the Sandpoint community by expanding offerings at Luther Park, Ms. Whitmyer’s goal is to ensure elders can remain close to their families while receiving comprehensive care options.
