His professional journey began in 1984 and has included nearly 30 years with Capital Group, a privately held investment management firm known for managing American funds. Since 1997, Mr. Cambridge has served as a partner at Capital Group in Los Angeles, California, specializing in portfolio management while contributing significantly to the organization’s mission and supporting its philanthropic initiatives. The company’s commitment to community engagement aligns closely with his own values, and over the past decade, the firm has donated more than $285 million to causes worldwide.
In addition to his work in finance, Mr. Cambridge assumed the role of board chair and director at Salzburg Global in 2025 after joining its board in 2019. Salzburg Global is an independent nonprofit convening organization founded in 1947 by three Harvard University students to foster dialogue across borders and promote empathy among leaders worldwide. Under Mr. Cambridge’s stewardship, the organization continues to address complex societal challenges through programmatic pillars that span education, culture, health, financing and governance, with a focus on peace and justice. One of his most notable achievements at Salzburg Global was the creation of a platform for young and established leaders from diverse backgrounds to discuss global issues, encouraging empathy and understanding while fostering interconnected solutions.
Mr. Cambridge’s academic background has played a pivotal role in shaping his approach to leadership and philanthropy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business and paralegal studies from Bentley University in 1984, a Master of Arts from Suffolk University in Boston in 1989, and a Master of Business Administration in investments and securities from Harvard Business School in 1997. These academic achievements provided Mr. Cambridge with a robust foundation for navigating both financial markets and nonprofit governance.
Committed to lifelong learning, Mr. Cambridge completed an executive education program on artificial intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 2025. This certification reflects his belief in staying current with technological advancements that are reshaping industries worldwide.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Cambridge has been affiliated with organizations such as the Harvard Club, the New York Yacht Club, the Great Harbor Yacht Club, The California Club and Palmetto Bluff. Additionally, he has engaged in philanthropic work, beginning at age 16 when he joined a big brother program that instilled a lifelong passion for giving back. Over time, Mr. Cambridge became involved with educational programs in inner-city Los Angeles, California, supported museums and championed initiatives designed to expand opportunities for the youth.
Mr. Cambridge’s influence has extended to numerous civic leadership positions, including serving as the chair of advancement and vice chair of the board at Mystic Seaport Museum since 2013 and 2014, respectively. Earlier, he served on the board of governors for The Huntington from 2016 to 2024. Mr. Cambridge also excelled as the board chair at Value Schools from 2006 to 2025, which saw him initiate the Back East Scholars Trip, a program he considers his greatest achievement. This initiative brought students from underserved communities to visit prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Yale University and Brown University, providing them with exposure to higher education opportunities and inspiring many to pursue academic excellence. Notably, nearly 150 students have participated in this life-changing experience, with several going on to attend Ivy League institutions.
Throughout his career, Mr. Cambridge has been recognized for his leadership and service. In 2020, he was honored as Educational Leader of the Year by Learning Rights Law Center in Los Angeles, a testament to his impact on educational advocacy. He attributes much of his success to qualities such as compassion, perseverance and curiosity. He emphasizes the importance of empathy and attentiveness when working with others, traits that have enabled him to foster meaningful connections throughout his career. Central to Mr. Cambridge’s achievements has been the unwavering support of his wife, Peggy, for more than 35 years, whose partnership has been instrumental in balancing professional commitments with family life and community service.
Looking ahead, Mr. Cambridge intends to dedicate significant effort toward ensuring Salzburg Global’s continued growth and financial stability while expanding its reach during an important milestone year for the organization. Having successfully chaired major capital campaigns that enhanced both physical facilities and programmatic offerings at several institutions, he remains focused on sustaining momentum through thoughtful planning and resource development.
