Byung Moon Ahn, President at Sungmin General Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
Dr. Ahn has led the Sungmin General Hospital since 1993 as chairman, and was appointed chair of the international affairs committee for the National Forum for Digital Hospitals in 2011. He is a leader in the field of public health in South Korea, and holds additional roles as vice president of the arbitration committee of the Incheon District Court and chairman of the special task team in health care for the Presidential Council for Future and Vision. Dr. Ahn is the author of “Anti-Aging Medicine” and a frequent contributor to medical literature who holds numerous commendations from his peers. He is the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has appeared in Who’s Who in Asia, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in the World.
Born to Boo Ho Ahn and Moon Soo Kim Ahn, Dr. Ahn attended Seoul National University’s College of Medicine to earn a MD in 1976, followed by a PhD in biochemistry from Chung-Ang University in 1982. He served to the rank of major with the Republic of Korea Army. Dr. Ahn holds certifications in orthopedic surgery and as a graduate of the School of Business Administration at Yonsei University, which named him a certified chief executive officer in 1999. In addition to his role in medicine and public health, he was the 2011 national delegate on the senior executive advisory council of HIMSS Analytics Asia Pacific in Tae-Gu, South Korea. Dr. Ahn is frequently invited as a visiting professor, and is currently teaching with Inha University and Seoul National University.
Among numerous awards, Dr. Ahn was named 2016 Man of Pride of Seoul by the Alumni Association of the Seoul Senior High School. He holds numerous honors from the International Biographical Centre, including an honorary DLitt. The South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has granted Dr. Ahn a 2010 Government Citation and a 2010 Healthcare Contribution Award. He has also given back to his alma mater as vice president of the alumni association of the College of Medicine at Seoul National University in 1981, and is chairman of the Korean Hospital Association. Dr. Ahn is the proud father of Kyung Min and Ha Young with his wife, Mee Sook Lee Ahn.
