Laila El Gammal, Managing Director at Nobeltex, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the textile industry.

Ms. El Gammal is a prominent textile industry specialist who has been in the field for more than 40 years. Introduced to the industry by her father, she has been involved in a group of three family-owned companies: G.I.E.S., Nobeltex and IEI, which have all been active in the Egyptian market since the late 1950s. Currently serving as the managing director of Nobeltex in Cairo, Egypt, since 1990, her primary career responsibilities include selling products, working as an agent for European companies, answering inquiries, reading and responding to emails, and performing quality assurance inspections. Nobeltex is a leading company in providing machinery and fire protective services, including within the textile industry, industrial air conditioning systems and fire protection systems.

Prior to her tenure at Nobeltex, Ms. El Gammal replaced her father as the manager director of G.I.E.S. in 1976, later also creating IEI in 1999. Maintaining her family’s legacy in the textile sales industry, she is accompanied by her sisters and two children, who assist her in running her companies. To prepare for her career path, Ms. El Gammal earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in chemical engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt and spent one year researching polyester yarns at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry. She has maintained affiliation with the Association of Engineers in Egypt to remain abreast of developments in the field, and she has also participated in numerous events by the World Bank, the Economic Business Women Forum and the Middle East Businesswomen Association.

Ms. El Gammal has always strived to establish herself as an esteemed executive in what is typically a male-dominated field. Excelling in her myriad roles, she has notably been honored as an inspiring female entrepreneur for the Middle East and North Africa regions by the World Bank. In addition, she was the recipient of an Award of Excellence in Business in 2007 and was interviewed for her expertise by a variety of local publications.

The proud mother of two children, Ms. El Gammal hopes to be succeeded by her daughter, Nyla El-Tawil, in running the family business. She also has four grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming.
