Don Schilling has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business administration.

Mr. Schilling originally wanted to become an electrical engineer after his uncle built him an AM radio from an old cigar box. He pursued the field academically, first earning a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in 1973 and later receiving a Master of Science in business administration from Indiana University in 1977. After earning his undergraduate degree, he worked as an electrical engineer for Indiana and Michigan Electric Co. Upon receiving his master’s, Mr. Schilling joined REMC and spent the next three decades with the company. From 1986 to 2017, her served as the president and general manager and in his leadership there was never a fatality on the job.

Another highlight in Mr. Schilling’s career is serving as the president of the local economic development cooperation where he helped attract a Honda assembly plant to the area, which added 2,000 jobs to the town. Though retired, Mr. Schilling has maintained professional affiliation with the IEEE, the Greenburg Area Chamber of Commerce and his local masonic lodge. He is a former Community Leader of the Year and still serves as a board member for the County Economic Development Commission.
