Thomas W Nissley, MDiv, board member of Preservation Connecticut and the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in various fields, including Church Service, Real Estate, Historical Preservation, and Psychotherapy.

Mr. Nissley has enjoyed a fulfilling and multifaceted career that has spanned more than five decades. He has earned distinction as an agent and marketing expert for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New England, through which he serves as a recognized leader in the marketing and preservation of historical homes and gardens. He was named as the Realtor of the Year by the New Canaan Board of Realtors in 2008. Mr. Nissley is a long-standing member and was Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, now known as Preservation Connecticut, which seeks to protect and promote Buildings and landscapes that contribute to the heritage of the State of Connecticut.

Mr. Nissley has served as President and Executive Director of the Ridgelea Institute since 1975, serving as host and sometimes trainer for visiting therapists working with Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy. Ordained as a Presbyterian minister in May of 1958, he served churches in Arlington, VA, Mercersburg, PA, and Stamford CT. In 1963 he helped to develop a database pinpointing what a successful minister does that was used in Presbyterian churches for decades and is still a tool that is shared today. He became interested in Transactional Analysis and earned certification as a Clinical Member in TA. When elected as a trustee of the International TA Association, he served as Program Director of three international conferences, helped to form the Eastern Region TA Association in the USA, and now serves on the Board of Directors of the USA TA Association.

Mr. Nissley has also reviewed plays and musical theater and operas over the past thirty-five years, at one time publishing a pamphlet magazine called “What to Do” and more recently publishing articles as the “Ridgelea Reports on Theatre.” When asked about his developmental years, he recalled elements that prepared him or channeled into his profession and his hobbies in later life, including his playful youth, his inherent fascination with specialty plants, his academic achievements and scholarships, his decision to enter the ministry and various additional opportunities in his areas of expertise.
