Shannon Collins-McDuffie, Chief Executive Officer at Diamond Counseling, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health counseling.

Ms. Collins-McDuffie obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2004. After graduation, she prospered with the American Academy of Otolaryngology as a member relations coordinator and from 2005 to 2010 as a territory manager with Abbott Laboratories, where she was awarded Top Sales Performer in 2009 for consistently exceeding quarterly sales goals and strengthening client relationships by effectively analyzing needs and tailoring products and services to fulfill necessary services.

Her passion to help individuals reach their highest level of functioning inspired Ms. Collins-McDuffie to establish Diamond Counseling, LLC in 2018, a community/behavioral health agency headquartered in Sterling, Virginia that provides community-based mental health, substance abuse and/or behavioral health services to individuals. Services may range from mentoring, companion care, respite, transportation, community integration, crisis intervention and stabilization, supported employment, day support, prevocational services, residential support, therapeutic and supportive consultation, environmental modifications, intensive in-home therapy and day treatment, in addition to traditional mental health and behavioral treatment provided to individuals who are court-ordered to receive services.

Ms. Collins-McDuffie’s memberships include the National Association of Health Services Executives, Metropolitan Area chapter; the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Washington D.C. Chapter; and the Alumni Association for University of Maryland, College Park. She is a licensed mental health clinician in the state of Virginia. Attributing her success to her intuition, Ms. Collins-McDuffie’s “people skills” allow her to utilize active listening to effectively uncover the needs of the clients or the individual with whom she is doing business. Her background in pharmaceuticals was influential in her understanding of the importance of providing person-centered care, as well as connecting individuals to other agencies and wraparound services.

In the immediate future, Ms. Collins-McDuffie intends to work with the state of Virginia to go through licensing and the process for a crisis stabilization health center that would provide housing for 30 days along with healthcare in helping to get people stabilized during the COVID-19 pandemic. She wants people to know that she is someone who was able to overcome obstacles, working hard to pursue her goals in life.
