Jay W. Brewer, former president of Grimes Volunteer Support Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public service.
Bolstered by several decades of experience, Mr. Brewer has cultivated a career of excellence as a public servant. Since 2010, he has operated with Grimes Volunteer Support Services in Grimes, Iowa. The all-volunteer organization provides in-home assistance, transportation and other services to community residents and those in need. From 2010 to 2022, Mr. Brewer held the position of president, and although he recently stepped away from this role, he remains affiliated with the company as a consultant.
Adjacent to his primary duties, Mr. Brewer has served as the board president of Polk County Health Services since 2014, and he has maintained his position as chairman of the board of directors of Community Choice Credit Union since 2012. He was also the president of Grimes Chamber & Economic Development, an organization focused on supporting businesses and expanding social opportunities in his community, from 2014 to 2022. Ever committed to the betterment of his community, Mr. Brewer has also held roles as a high school principal and with the Iowa Respite and Crisis Care Coalition and the Iowa Veterans Home.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Brewer pursued a formal education. After earning a bachelor’s degree in education, he subsequently continued his studies at Truman State University, where he achieved a master’s degree in administration in 1968. In addition to his academic credentials, he also holds a locomotive license and a pilot’s license. To commemorate his collective accomplishments in the field, Mr. Brewer was previously honored with several certificates of recognition from the state of Iowa.
Accounting for his accomplishments, Mr. Brewer attributes much of his success to inheriting many different perspectives, attitudes and approaches over the course of his career. He is most notably proud of all of his work with Grimes Volunteer Support Services, with which he looks forward to continuing his work as a consultant. Furthermore, in the coming years, Mr. Brewer hopes to continue helping others and providing useful services to those in need.
