Sgt. Tacorya J. Wright, Emergency Preparedness Specialist with NYC Emergency Management, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in defense and emergency management.

Since 2018, Mr. Wright has been a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist with the U.S. Army. From 2019 to 2022, he has served as part of the Army’s Operation Inherent Resolve in Baghdad, Iraq, and from 2018 to 2019, he served with the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska. Starting in 2022, Mr. Wright has served as an emergency preparedness specialist with NYC Emergency Management.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Wright was an intensive case manager with Community Council Health Systems in 2016. He served as an intensive case coordinator for The Consortium from 2015 to 2021. Alongside his primary endeavors, he was a former president’s cabinet member, college legislator and student senator at Alabama State University.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Wright holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Alabama State University, which he earned in 2009. In 2018, he graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a master’s degree in criminal justice. Currently, Mr. Wright is working toward a master’s degree in homeland security and crisis/emergency/disaster management at the Metropolitan College of New York. Alongside his formal degrees, he holds a HAZMAT Awareness Certification, a HAZMAT Operations Certification and a HAZMAT Mass Decontamination Certification.

To keep abreast of his career field, Mr. Wright has maintained membership with numerous professional organizations. He is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and formerly served as the treasurer of the organization’s Alabama State University chapter. Mr. Wright is also a member and the former vice president of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. chapter at Alabama State University. In the coming years, he hopes to work directly under the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help as many people as possible.
