Louis Scatena, Structural Engineer and Associate Vice President of Carollo Engineers Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in structural engineering.
For more than 19 years, Mr. Scatena has been a structural engineer with Carollo Engineers Inc. In this capacity, he designs municipal water treatment plants. As a part of his role, he guides the firm’s structural engineers, especially when incorporating digital structural design. Mr. Scatena has provided his design expertise to projects in Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Scatena earned a diploma from Jenkins Township High School in Pennsylvania and obtained a pre-engineer degree from the University of Scranton. In 1967, he graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. Alongside his formal degrees, Mr. Scatena is a Certified Professional Engineer in California and Arizona.
Prior to his current roles, Mr. Scatena was a structural engineer and technical consultant to the chief executive officer of the Salt River Project Water and Power Company in Arizona for 28 years. Prior to that, he worked for seven years as a structural engineer at Burns & Loewe Architects & Engineers in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and for one year at Philco-Ford in Philadelphia. As a young boy, Mr. Scatena worked with his father at his Pennsylvania coal mines. In addition to his primary pursuits, he published the nonfiction novel “Anthracite Boot Camp” in 2021 and previously published “Anthracite Grade School on Irish Hill.” Both books are about his boyhood experiences at the mines. Mr. Scatena also served in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after high school.
Mr. Scatena has been recognized for his accomplishments with a 1980 Engineering Excellence Award from the Arizona Society of Professional Engineers for the civil and structural engineering design for The SilverKing High Voltage Receiving Station. He also received a 2021 Certificate of Excellence from Bentley Systems Inc. for the structural design of the Valencia Water Reclamation Plant in California. In the coming years, Mr. Scatena intends to continue finding success in his current endeavors at Carollo Engineers.
