With more than three decades of professional experience, Mr. Upadhye has excelled since 2017 as the principal of his firm, Amit Upadhye Architects Inc., in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alongside this position, he has shared his expertise as an adjunct professor at Arizona State University since 2002. Prior to his current role, Mr. Upadhye was a senior project architect with Gensler from 2016 to 2017 and a project manager with Morphosis from 2013 to 2015. From 2010 to 2013, he was a senior associate with Aedas in Singapore, and from 2007 to 2010, he was a principal at his own firm. After working as an architectural designer and coordinator with DP Architects Pte. Ltd. in Singapore from 1994 to 1996, Mr. Upadhye immigrated to the United States in 1997.
In preparation for his career pursuits, Mr. Upadhye attended Sardar Patel University in India and earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the university’s Institute of Environmental Design. He went on to graduate from The University of New Mexico with a Master of Architecture in 1998, graduating with distinction. Mr. Upadhye is a registered architect with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration and has been an invited speaker as various professional conferences, symposia and university events.
Mr. Upadhye’s work as an architect has been featured in numerous publications, including Phoenix Home & Garden in 2020, Inside Outside Magazine in 2019 and Cool Homes in 2010. His work was exhibited at The University of New Mexico in 2010 and he was featured in Desert Living Magazine in 2002. In recognition of his accomplishments, he received an American Institute of Architects Award from The Construction Zone Ltd. in 2011 and earned an Outstanding Kitchen Design Award for the Southwest Region of Sub-Zero Wolf in 2009. He was a finalist for the Phoenix Contemporary Design Fair Competition in KONTAKT Magazine in 2008 and received a New Mexico Chapter Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1997. To keep abreast of his field, Mr. Upadhye maintains affiliation with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, the American Institute of Architects and the Indian Institute of Architects.
