With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Giam has excelled as the senior managing director at Black & Veatch Holding Company, formerly known as Black & Veatch Corporation and Black & Veatch Management Consulting, LLC, since 2017. He began his career at Black & Veatch Holding Company as a product manager from 1997 to 2011 before advancing to the post of principal consultant from 2012 to 2015. He was subsequently appointed by the aforementioned company as the managing director in 2015. Mr. Giam’s team supports various investors, managers, and company owners in selling, buying, or financing their projects or assets. His responsibilities include setting up client coverage for their transaction advisory practice, meeting with clients to evaluate and champion their internal teams and originating new business for clients. He additionally aids various companies in the evaluation of potential projects or companies to invest in or purchase and provides corporate financing.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Giam pursued an education at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, where he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1997. He concluded his studies at the University of Kansas, completing a Master of Business Administration in 2001. He was further certified as a professional engineer by the Kansas Board of Technical Professionals in 2002.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Giam has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. A panel speaker who has contributed to multiple conferences, has held the role of judge at The Cleanie Awards since 2018 and is a volunteer with the United Way. In the immediate future, Mr. Giam intends to continue serving his clients and remains particularly passionate about his work on the firm’s direct air capture project, with the goal of engineering a system capable of capturing 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere per year.
