Daniel Yates Phillips, president and chief executive officer at Phillips Energy Systems, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in renewable energy.
With nearly 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Phillips has excelled as president and chief executive officer at Phillips Energy Systems since 1985. In his role, his responsibilities include developing projects and solutions for Puerto Rico, Antigua, Jamaica, and other Caribbean areas as well as the United States. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at North Carolina State University where he earned a renewable energy diploma in 2012.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Phillips remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was the founding member of the Independent Electrical Contractors Association and a member of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. He remains associated with Phillips Electrical Systems, Phillips Energy Systems, PES Supply, Solar Solutions, Innovative Renewable Energy Solutions, Positive Energy Solutions, Wood Country Creations. He volunteered with the Sierra Club and Earthjustice.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Phillips has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with a Fire Award in 2022. He attributes his success to his tenacity and refusal to give up or fail and his passion for saving the Earth. Among his notable career achievements, he is particularly proud to have been part of creating a 5.5 megawatt solar rooftop, which is the largest of its kind in North America.
Mr. Phillips is also highly enthused about the work he and his associates are doing in high temperature gasification, which uses super-heated steam to convert carbon from garbage, sewage, biomass, pink bags, medical waste, hazardous waste, and any type of contaminant into fuel gas. They have tested and proven that they can run 1,800 different feedstocks through their gasification system. His team has neutralized and disposed of yellow cake or nuclear waste byproducts and built a plant in South Korea specifically for that objective.
In the next 10 years, Mr. Phillips wants to see all landfills mined out and gone. He aims to give the world sustainable energy at a reasonable price and clean up the contaminants from the Earth. His motto is “leave the world in a better place than you found it.”
